I hope he has better success than the one i had last year. My friend found my buck 3 weeks later not more than 25 yards from an area we searched.just got my hands on him yesterday for the first time.
Wind has picked up a little and the sun is out. Beautiful day to be alive. Let’s go PM shift. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The squirrels are entertaining me. No deer since the spike. Hardly any wind. Sun feels good but I need to see a deer to keep me awake!
I just finished boning out and vacuum sealing the two does I killed. My wife is going to swing by, pick up the cooler an put them in the freezer. We will have to process them later, but now I have cooler space for another deer. I met a really decent young man (probably in his late 20's) yesterday afternoon at a camp up the road. We were both camping alone so we exchanged phone numbers in case either of us needed help. An hour or so ago he pulled into camp towing his UTV trailer and asked me if I needed some water. He had a 55 gallon water container mounted to his trailer with a pump. He was heading home and was going to dump it when he remembered I had told him I was going to be here for more than another week. We pumped my travel trailer full and I also filled up my standby containers. That was really nice of him. It kind of makes me think there might be a chance for the younger generation.
They still exist Chief. All we ever hear about are the whiners and cryiers. Those good folks are everywhere. Sqeaky wheels just stand out is all.
That's it for me. Wind just swapped and it's a lost cause with this wind. Good luck to those of you that hunt this afternoon.
Came across this today. Rub on the tree is on a very wide tree. Probably over 15 inches in diameter. Scrape right next to it. Thoughts? I think it's a young buck but who knows Sent from my SM-G990U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
A little motivation for those on stand today. Got four racks of deer jerky going in the smoker, garlic and black pepper. Just impatiently waiting for blood trail pics and RR3 to show us pics of the buck the dog tracked down.
After a frustrating hunt last night, he didn’t want me to post anything but good news from this morning, so, here is the good news.
I'm back up for the afternoon/ evening. Wind is all over the place, supposed to be S/SW sustained but it's been SE, NE... Picked the same stand as this AM, it's the best for variable winds as deer can come from anywhere. Where I saw the buck this morning was less than 30 yards from my buddy's stand, had he been in it he would have smoked it. I told him if he wasn't hunting it this afternoon I would and that's where he's at. It's his property so he gets first dibs and I got no issues with that. Gonna nap for a half hour then start calling/rattling. GL everyone
I wasn't there but based on your description, 'quarter to, held "tight to shoulder" I've been there, done that. Lost way too many deer doing it cuz it's way too easy to hit a little back, get back of lung and a little liver. You gonna take a quarter-to shot; put it in front of the near shoulder. Don't get me wrong, I've dropped a few deer w/in sight w/ 1 lung/liver shots but I've lost a few too. You put it inside the shoulder on a quarter-to, you likely get boiler room and at least offside lung if not both lungs
Still up from before sunrise…another 3 1/2 hours left… if this afternoon is anything like this morning, I should be fun… Hot AF out tho… Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Curious… am I the only one who thinks about Monty Python when a solo leaf falls from high in a tree? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
