I heard a grunt about shooting light, 650. I heard a much deeper guttural grunt an hour later. I don't think he made either. Ridge - you'll find him!
You’re killing me Brandon. I’ve blown two opportunities on really good bucks on back to back sits on public in NY. I’d say I’m halfway on the shield at this point. Good luck too you as well!
Haha just trying to motivate. Im not seeing anything yet this morning and im in a spot i can see for a half mile.
If your woods are anything like mine you’re not missing much. I think the time change messed with the deer. They definitely overslept.
Across the field there was a doe with 2 fawns. I've seen 2 bucks over there since, 1 looked smaller and one medium. Couldn't move much to glass because 2 fawns were right behind me. Fun 40 minutes. Bucks didn’t follow doe. Field is standing corn.
Nov 5th maybe 6 to 8 years ago was one of my most memorable hunts ever. Hadn't seen much for days so I picked a spot on the map and set up in the dark. 5 mins after sunup I hear what I believe was another hunter setting up not 50 yards from me. So loud. Then I hear what sounds like a baseball bat hitting a tree. Over and over. I was getting even more dejected due to believing it was another hunter. A moment later I see an absolute monster of the big woods appear. True giant. 22 to 24 inch spread and massive. Grab my bow and he is walking off at 40 yards. I grunt at him. He turns in a dime and starts coming right to me. He comes to 20 yards and is facing me head on when he stops and picks me off in the tree. Im not shooting head on at 20. He slowly backs up and walks off. No shot the entire time. I was left speechless. Amazing encounter. Stay positive!
This guy was grunting and chasing does alll around me… I have lost count of how many doe I’ve seeen… what an amazing morning! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Cameras back in OH have been busy this morning. Very quiet here, hardly any wind. Chippers and squirrels doing their thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Encouraging morning so far. I've seen seven so far with just a split spike that had walked through within range. I've only got another 90 minutes to go before I've got to get it off here. The good part is that I've seen a couple of does bring pushed around my some nosey bucks. Totally different from what I saw on Thursday. I just watched the same spike tend to his scrape that he made on Thursday afternoon. Here he comes again, nose to the ground! God, I love being one with nature and watching critters be critters. After a solid 10 hours of sleeping on it....... I'm planning my last 2 days of this hunting season for my woods of broken dreams. I'm going all in. I'll go out at Grey Light on Friday to the one ridge I haven't hunted because it goes against common thought/knowledge of deer movement. I'll get there before the thermals start to rise, find a good spot and hunt it till midday then head home (my wife will be gone this upcoming weekend on a girls' trip so I have to take care of the dogs). Saturday morning, I'll go in and be set up there before sunrise and leave midday. Next season is up to me and what I make of it. I can't be good with myself by dismissing these woods yet when I haven't given it a full 100% effort during the offseason. Enough of my drama, KILL!!!!!!!
been MIA hunting with nothing to show for it - congrats to the killers! I am working today but have the rest of the week off and will be hunting the property closer to home. The property I have been hunting isn't massive and has seen some serious pressure from the neighbors ripping 4 wheelers and sighting in shotguns the day before firearm season. I found their blind that was put up on the wrong side of the fence line and looking into the bean field i hunt so i decided to sit yesterday out and let them have at it.
Man I really needed that after that crap shot the other day was about ready just to pull the rifle out Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
