Oh man the contest curse LOL
All finally got quiet at 5p.m.. Ten mins. later the neighbors swamp starts snorting and snorting . WTH I haven't moved and the wind is blowing from there into my face. I'm looking and looking but it's way down the bank in thick brush. Next thing a big BLK. cat jumps up over the bank and walks between me and the deer. Walked right over to guy that was leaf blowing his lawn earlier. blk cat really?.. hahaha
Well it ended up being mom and twins. They all finally walked 3 yards past me then nailed me as I was packing up and blew up my woods. As you know she and any doe with twins gets a pass. I'd take a button or even a spike next week before a doe dropping twins if I need meat. Still fun having her come in so close.

I’m out, nothing else. Kind of a crappy slow day. But it’s still good to be hunting!

Just helped my buddy track this one. Heck if a deer! 14 points. Couldn't be more happy for him. He deserves it.

Holy hell. I can't keep up!

Congrats Holt, BRF on a couple nice bucks.
Swampy, was totally rooted for you.
Jim, hunting woods next to a cornfield getting picked can be awesome.
Camo, that pic with the kid is DARLING!

Gun season opened today. What used to be unreal traffic ,gunfire is now almost a ghost town.
    It's a dying sport.

    Nothing else for me.

Right before I had the buck encounter a doe snuck up behind me. She picked me off in the tree at about 25 yards. I listened to here for over a hour walking around in a thicket. Of course she comes out the exact moment I was focused on the buck coming in.

We finished with 2 does at 25 directly behind us. The lead doe moved to our right side as to enter the woods but stopped from our scent. She circled back around us and the a button buck started chasing the young doe. They completely came at us wrong. In other news, my son officially is over annoyed with squirrels now. Had the baby squirrel sit on a limb in front of us a high pitch bark for about 15 min solid. He was looking for something to throw at it and had me cracking up. These are my best hunts.

Next year, ALL my stands ,and I have alot, are gonna be painted in that black rubberized stuff.

    Seat,rungs,platform.
Most are in thick cover and to climb into one after a snow just sucks.
Gonna be black so whatever bit of sun hits them will help melt it off.
