There. I think I'm caught up. I think I posted this earlier, but I did something today that I NEVER do: I took the afternoon off hunting and I won't hunt in the morning either.

I'm pretty tired and I need some rest. It's been a fantastic four days thus far. I've gotten a shot at a turkey, I've killed a pig (not recovered, but with an arrow sticking out both sides of its vitals it's dead), killed two does and let a buck walk.

It was great having @Brett Smith here at camp for a couple of days. He is a genuine good guy and it was pleasure sharing my camp with him. I only wish he would have killed a deer while he was here.

I still have over ten days here at camp. I only brought two medium coolers and they're both full so I need to make a trip home to get them emptied. I'll probably do that tomorrow since home is only a half hour away. I think I'll process and seal the backstraps/tenderloins and wrap/freeze the quarters for future processing.

I may (or I may not) shift to buck only when I get back to camp. You know me. I like killing deer, so if a doe walks by........

Wonder if mega will mess up the next 4 days. I’ve got 100+yds to work with now. Hate to say that since I love bowhunting… but I need a buck mount on my wall.

When, not if, he messes up. You have to be there to take advantage of it and kill him.

Easier said than done, but when the morning sit seems slow and boring, endure it through the boring in hopes it is made exciting.

Nov. 5th through Nov. 18th is the date range I have killed mature bucks. All but 3 have been between 9am and 3pm in the last 13 years. The other 3 have been in the first hour and a half of legal light.

A lot of them were between 12:30 and 2:30.

If he moves through at 1pm it does no good if you are recharging for the evening sit.

The way I look at it is I raised three daughters. I EARNED these gray hairs and I shall wear them with pride!! Besides, at my age I really don't care what color my hair is, I'm just glad to still have hair!

    Up and getting ready.

Never did check in at the end of last night. Was helping my daughter track a Doe after shooting time.

Ended up seeing a 3pt and an unknown deer at end of shooting time. So, 14 deer on that sit . 10 Doe, could have shot 4, a unicorn, spike, 3pt and one unknown. Not a single Buck with sizable antlers. I think there are very few Doe in heat right now and the little guys are having their fun. 2 more days, let's see what happens.

Good luck out there today. Stay safe!

    Congrats @Holt !!!

I've switched up strategies, and trying to be a good husband as well. My wife has to work tomorrow. so today is the only day she can sleep in. I got up at 3:30 with my alarm, but got the dogs up with me so she can sleep in. I'll head out whenever she wakes up and stay out for the remainder of the day. It might be better for me to scout my way in and look for fresh sign.

Getting ready in ohio, going to hunt a spot I scouted earlier on, it’s below a ridge where multiple points dump down into this ledge/shelf but it’s wide. There is bedding on either side to my N and S with 100 yds between them of slightly open woods. I might not see a ton of deer here but I think it’s a great spot to see the right deer. A bunch of oaks still dropping and on ground to my south. There is a highway trial connecting the bedding and a handful of trails perpendicular. I’ll be 20 yds down wind of the main trail. Sitting dark to dark. Got my friend out here with me so I got backup. Good luck everyone! I’m ready to fling an arrow!! Heres a look at the trail that comes from bedding to my south.
