About 18 yards and right around 20 feet high I shot for 20 but stupid mistake aimed mid body Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I agree, especially based on what my eyes told me at the shot. It's not a ton of fat, but there is a good amount. I still have to go look though. I've never drawn blood and not tracked one.
Effed up again. Rattled in that big 7. Got drawn back but forgot to lift my face mask. Could not find my ancor point. #rookiemistake#. Disgusted and pouting. Arrow looks like low brisket LC.
If you hit high below the spine in the vitals area and it was sticking out mid body you at least got the offside lung and maybe liver. I agree with Virginiashadow. Give it at least four hours.
I posted my thoughts in our team thread, time is your friend. Be patient, it will not go far with that shot, just have to be careful not to look too early and bump it.
Brought my older brother with me this morning. Put him in my best stand. He has surgery scheduled for next week to remove cancerous tumor on his kidney. He has 6 days of hunting left this year. Just got this from him at 11:25
I'm out for a short break, be back in by 12 If you think it is foward of the front leg then it probably was. If its mid height shot you could still get the arteries running out of the neck and into the chest cavity. If its low then it's not a lethal hit.
If it was high mid body, you may be ok… the lungs go way farther back along the spine If it was below the spine and not past the lungs .. you didn’t miss either lung as they actually sit higher than the lowest part of the spine I have heard a high double lung shot can heal tho Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
A couple of guys just turned their truck around in the campsite. One of them looked at the arrow and said that there was brown hair on the broad head. He also noticed that one of the blades was bent but not nicked like it had hit a rock, so he thinks I hit the onside leg bone. That could have happened based on what I saw. She was slightly quartering away, so the exit may have been through the brisket and cleaned any good blood off the arrow. If that's the case it would still be a single lung shot. I don't think I could have hit the heart unless she was quartering away more than I thought. I guess I'm going to have to put a real effort into trailing this deer.
