Efff it , I'm going in. I'm here. Can't kill em from the trk. Ok not legally anyway. I gonna get wet.
A nanny doe, two tiny button bucks, and a fawn just came from behind. Nanny doe came to the tree I was in and busted me. Blew about 8 times.
I’m set up in a patch of hardwoods close to my house. 68 degrees south wind……. Where you at cold front!
Typical first morning S show getting in here. Drainage had a thin layer of ice over it so you can imagine what that sounded like. Hopefully the bucks thought it sounded like a 170lb doe walking through it. Was getting dressed at the car and the guy who’s land is next to ours came out. Mega was on camera around midnight. He is considerably smaller than years past, but still a big deer. Now to see if I layered good enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got back pouring when we left and just misting now able to check fields and edges as I drove down and back up the hill. Nothing in sight so they are either mid Woods or pine plantations that surround us. The "sanctuary" above me isn't so much right now. The daughter and grandkids have been driving around up there screaming a few times a day. Since season started. Hoping that actually helps. Bobbin head buck comes out this weekend, I bought a new Woodhaven call I like.
Unknown deer at 70 heading opposite direction. Stand facing right into the wind and I have non stop cold tears coming out of my eyes. RealFeel 19 degrees. Come on sun! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3 does slipped past me silent about 15 min ago. I ranged the biggest at 40 yds but not a good feeling about the shot. So im watching them feed underneath an oak. If she comes back this way i will kill the biggest. No buck so far. Cams showed a few last night. Nothing crazy.
Sounds like the Gaza strip out here. When do most duck hunters wrap up in the morning? Had a little action with some turkey.
Nothing to report here, kinda weird. Duck hunting around here is going well too, at least they are a long ways away
Finally got some texted pictures on the buck my Dad took last evening. This is the buck I named Splits because of his brow tines. Not too bad for a 78 year old hunter.
Generous 1 bar of lte svc. Takes about a minute to load a page of the thread, forget about pics. Muzzleloader season opens today. Spot I was going to sit had 2 trucks before 5:30 this morning. Alt spot also had 2 trucks. Walking in I met a guy headed out, he was night fishing. Somebody is running dogs and shooting no muzzleloader, must be a squirrel hunter. Hoping something gets stirred up. Beautiful spot on the edge of pine and hardwood...but have only seen a squirrel and a fox this morning.
