With the wind, this seems a better idea than the tree I wanted to go to.

Had a doe stand at 20 yards feeding for 30 mins, its like she knew I was really pushing for a buck today. . Nothing else so far. [IMG]

FYI i have seen on more than one occasion deer following behind coyotes. Blows my mind but someone told me the more mature does will do this when they know the coyote is unaware of their presence so they will follow behind them a little bit just to keep tabs on them. It looks like that’s exactly what they were doing. Ive seen it 3 times. Every time it was a mature doe with fawn/fawns. They just want to keep tabs on them in case they “circle back” as jen psaki would say :tu:

I'm good Jim! thanks for asking brother! Work has been getting in the way of me getting in the woods and on my off days (today), I'm recovering from what I've heard all week. Not to mention 15 out of the last 20 Saturdays have rained. I've found that living vicariously through y'all is too painful for me sometimes so I needed to step away for a few days.

    That being said, HUGE CONGRATS to this past week's killers!! @Westfinger , @dmax4me , @alenhard15 , @Shawn Clark, and @Shawn Clark !!!

Today is going to be 80 degrees, and I have a work dinner party tonight. I'll be sweating like a pig tomorrow in the woods! With this full moon, I might sleep in a bit and go out mid morning for a mid-day/afternoon hunt. Temps are supposed to plummet midweek. Thursday is going to the first freeze day with temps in the mid 20s and highs in the low 40s. Just in time for the good stuff.

I have a few high profile clients scheduled on Thursday that I'm going to try and reschedule so I can do a Thursday, Friday, Saturday hunt.

Good luck to all the Friday killers! Can't wait to join y'all tomorrow!

Got my late-season clothes out of the bin for tomorrow's 6 a.m.-4 p.m. sit. I got the suit after the season last year. Hope I layer appropriately!

yesterday afternoon walking to stand i felt horrible, migraine dizzy nauseous etc.
almost threw up half way to stand, was hoping the peace of sitting would help me feel better, it did not.
I knew of i threw up in the timber that could screw things up for a bit so i got down and walked back to cabin. decided to lay down didnt help, all i could think about was "my bed"
I packed up and went home about 30 minutes into drive had to pull over to throw up.
Felt like crap until about 9am today.

Missed hunting today but migraines suck

First daytime bucks this morning. Giant 11pt (spike) and 3pt sparring for 15 minutes. Hope that’s a sign for things to come.

I heard of 2 different big mature bucks from 2 different people being bedded out in a field with a doe. Think the first does are being breed. They were 30 plus miles apart. Stuck at work today, but will be after them tomorrow and Sunday.

Seen only 1 deer through some thick stuff. Couldn't tell what it was. 40-45 yards away. I'm home.

Well the deer Gods have shone their light on me on me i guess. Given the circumstances it looks like i will get a nice stretch of time off. Wifes gma passed away which was expected. I get a week of bereavement and my wife is ok. She told me i should hunt this weather coming in. With my work schedule now ill be off from now till Nov 7th then 12th-21st. I think i end up getting 20 days off in November. Not too shabby!

Well I secured a place to hunt after losing my other property a couple weeks ago. It’s a little bit harder to bow hunt but manageable. I’ve hunted this place before and it’s right on the Oklahoma/Kansas border. Has some really nice size deer in the place.

Thanks, I plan on getting out there as soon as possible. There are a couple stands up already I can use but I want to get mine setup soon. I’ll be out there next week with the guy who has hunted it for 30 years. He told me I could sit one of his stands and then between sets setup what I want. It’s a dynamic rifle piece of property but I really enjoy bow hunting.

All setup, it feels really early but there’s rain, so maybe that’ll help.
My plan is to shoot a 250” buck right here

Or a spike, or doe, or squirrel…who knows, gotta keep the bar low

Don't set any ground rules. If you get down at noon so be it. If you move stand positions three times, oh well. If you sleep in and hunt from 930 to dark...oh well. Enjoy yourself buddy.

Had to go out for grandkids holloween stuff and well extra postage on their over stuffed cards. Had to laugh ppl. I really don't know but seem to know me all asked about my deer hunting. One that lives in town and talks to everyone. (Their job), asked me if I had my buck picked out. Such openings......he heard all about my buck. I could see the wheels turning when truck was put into detail. First big seed planted.
It is so hot here and switching breeze. Birds will be given this last full day out in good weather. So no hunt this afternoon. Can't chance coyotes/owls getting to them before I get out of woods. They had A.J. out of his mind by 7:3o last night.

BTW...1.89 FOR A SINGLE CANDY BAR!!!!! WTH!!!! I don't buy such things but was looking to fill a small goodie bag each for boys Holloween. Ya, yo-yo's, match boxes, cookies, chips sour patch and Necolwaffers(sp?). My sincere condolences to those with kids and living in a neighborhood with side walks. Prices now would cost us 75 dollars or more if we still lived in town.
