I don't think you would have found him on that first shot either. Did that once on a big buck. Broke 8" of arrow off inside him. It was almost identical to that. Had a buddy shoot a buck like that one time and never found him. Ended up shooting him the next year and his arrow was still inside of him when he cut him up. Stuck in off side shoulder.

Its YOUTH weekend in VT. I'm out with Caleb. My oldest son Brandon is out with James. Pouring rain all weekend. Luckily I set up blinds yesterday. Not sure that deer will even get up, but we are here to try. Its 58 and raining, so in the blind it's pretty comfortable. Good luck everyone.

Congrats LC, wild story to boot! I shot a buck in Ohio 2019 and a branch deflected it. I still thought it was a good hit shot was 15yds. Text my buddy I shot one, 20 mins later he text me he shot one. The buck came in working a scrape. We meet and grab lunch, got back and look for his first. Find it and we flip him over and I shot that buck too! Went in and out right by ribs and non lethal obviously. Pretty crazy stuff, didn’t think id hear another story like it haha.

It was a late night but I’m back on stand. This time I have my muzzleloader with me to improve my odds of killing a doe.

Problem is I haven’t seen a doe myself yet.

Pretty sure I just had one of my target bucks sneak by me at 80. I got glass on him for a second and definitely bone there. Grunted st him a time or two but apparently he didn’t care and kept moving on. DAMN!!

Last week my brother asked me if I ever shot in one stand and see deer by another. I think I'm currently sitting in the only stand I can see another stand. I just saw my first deer of the day and it was by that other stand. Put binos up....it's a dandy buck. I grunted and bleatted. He heard, but kept working to the north. Watched him work a scrape. Good to know there is a nice one around.
