Back in gypsy blind. Kicked up a single deer 40 yrds from blind . Where the two nice bucks appeared last week. No snorts just a couple of bounds and walked away..
Got here an hour before legal. So it may be bedding for one. Along downed basswood logs. You could hear a mouse fart out here this morning.
The cut bean field the farmer disced is regrowing shattered bean seed.
    Good luck all...

So I'm sitting in Rivers blind with a throbbing headache ,wildly pjzzed.
The deer I spooked was the 8pt. He didn't walk far and at 7:45 came in and gave me a shot. I hear a crazy loud crack and he runs a short distance. We are both trying to figure out what happened. I'll be digging a broad head out of a stump. I barely missed his belly and hit the stump he was standing next to. OK He sees nothing and assumes something fell because here he comes again. Sniffing the air and looking around. He gets on trail and I have another arrow knocked. I'm waiting for a broad side as he passes , 23yrds he's quartering to me heart side. When. He steps forward and turns hard. Stops looking around and is quartering away. I aimed a bit back and elbow crease. Heard the pop and he bolted away head down ,tail down into gully and up opposite ridge. Stopped tail flickering hard staggering , but up. Then started snorting and trotted over ridge. Waited then looked for arrow. 3" of leaves can't find it. Very little blood . Figured the angle was a cavity bleed Step out and go home fed chicks and had coffee . Went back out and long short trailed spotty blood , few leaves with 1-2 bubbles through woods. Just as I crest hill I see a truck driving neighbors road past Rivers blind. I'm trailing blood right to his neighbors from the angle. That's where the truck has stopped on the edge of his field. BTW same guy the stole a gun 8 I shot many years ago when I went to get retrieval permission. Before cell phones. We actually ran into each other after I found him. Anyways before I can get down to line the truck pulls away and as he's passing me, I'm high enough up hill to see a tine point popping up in bed SOB! Then as I'm walking to the blind he comes back apparently dropped it off at home and returned.
In NYS you tag it it's yours. I'm pretty sure he had dropped dead at the bottom of hill just off the line. All our property lines meet there
This is why I shoulder shoot in gun season. This makes the 4th buck I know, 3 absolute certain, taken. Windows were tinted and he's older than me, may be someone in family he has a son.
I actually had thought he was shot by a crossbow up in the pines boarding the beans . I definitely heard a shot from there and it sound too loud for a compound. Then found his zig zagging trail headed down our hill. That season doesn't open until Nov.3.

That sucks. You have some terrible neighbors. Will your husband go have a conversation with him?

You have more stories than Mother Goose! You should write a book!

Not the type of stories I want. Just got home. Who ever was driving it was a work truck because it had a ladder rack on it.

I'm sorry this happened to you.

At night he goes to sleep knowing he is an unkind individual and wonders why bad things happen to him.

You get to sleep knowing you are the type of person that brings goodness to the world.

    Most people are good....

I've been through this before, not even going to try. Like I said it's who ever tagged it. I actually not sure he was hunting. I think he's working on a building out there and happened to see the buck fall.
Me I would have waited to see who showed up or actually call as in the past. It is what it is here , funny never lost a doe like this ..go figure.

I work 6 hrs a week at the Y. But thanks I needed to see that, as much as I needed to see Heckler in pink panties.

Wk PT but mostly retired. Helping a friend out. The Y can't get any one to open up the Y at 445 am. So I do.

The last time I was a voting inspector and he votes. EVERY SINGLE YEAR I'd say Hi! hows your season going? find any buck? I can not tell you the pleasure that gave me as his face flushed every time. Now I don't think he bow hunted back then , but he wouldn't say anything.
