Would have been until that drippy fog turned to heavy mist that then went to rain. It was the shortest BEST unsuccessful hunt I've had this season. I had a doe on the ground hunting me and walked around me @20 FEET with her two fawns unable to detect me. BTW she started down wind on her search. Let me tell you I swear by hickory nut oil. How to make this quick Late leaving so changed areas Hit that 16ft ladder stand that is actually a better afternoon buck cruising when field is bare. Dressed for the wet but rain-soaked gloves and I only had 1 pair. Hands started to stiffening, arthritis and I feared not being able to safely climb down if I stayed longer. Get down bow in sling carrier across my back, when I kick out doe and 2 fawns RIGHT AT the coop blind. Long short I froze on trail but she was on the hunt for the disturbance. Slowly coming my way as I slowly got off trail and to nearest tree. Well I've lost weight but I do not fit behind a 3" sapling well, so I thought. She got to 20' and circled to the trail behind me fawns following. She continued down hill but last fawn saw me slowly turn my head to peek where mom was. He ran back up hill from me and mom turned and did the same. Now she's looking again at 30 yrds I decided I had to do something Yip yip howl, yip yip howl, something back there they are use to. Off they trotted I'm soaked but what fun and won't shoot a momma with twins here anyways Doe were all but wiped out a couple of seasons ago. Twin producers are safe from me. BTW F the weather station with their zero rain 3 mph winds...that wasn't
@Ranbo found his buck. It's a keeper Team thread NINE TINES SAID HE RECOVERED IT. STILL waiting for pics.
Live from a not going to hunt bad wind day, thought I would try out the climber to see if I can still do it fairly well. Since I have gotten permission from the neighbors to the north and all my portable stands are in use.
Here we sit again!! One of these times something’s gonna die. I feel this week and next week have generally been the best for sightings and opportunities in the past few years on this property. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Sitting in a ladder stand on the edge of a corn field by a river crossing. New scrape on corn field edge. KIll!
It would make us HAPPY if you killed tonight! Sitting in the stand I sat in opening morning, October 1. I love theses suckers.
Back at what I call the bow plot stand. It’s 125 yds from my house sitting in the edge of big hardwood and thick cover with a small food plot. Haven’t got a pic of the buck I’m in here after in about 3 weeks so if a doe gives me a shot I’m going to take it.
Looks like a good spot. Let’s kill something tonight Bone. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
