2 years ago, I helped a 15 year old boy and his Dads girlfriend get 2 BIG bear.
Their taxidermist asked if he could use them in the National Taxidermy Competition.
    Just got confirmation.
    # 1 and #2
    Incredible!
Quite proud of being part of that.

first post of the year LIVE from the stand lol

Not sure if anyone remembers, but i was dealing with a couple guys at 1 property, so this year i decided to skip that property all together and I didnt ask for permission from that land owner. I still have another property close to home where i missed my biggest buck last year, and my parents place in northern WI.

Thanks to LC, i was able to get signed up for the contest this year - im usually good for 50 pts LOL hopefully im able to get some headgear on the ground this year.

I got a real nice buck on camera about a week ago, but think he was just passing through - only the one pic of him.

Ive been passing the time by preseason prep/scouting and doing some predator hunting.

Freak Buck, main frame 4 on the right and then a long spike with a brow tine on the left. He moves through fast so you will want to pause the video to get a good look at him.

Full disclosure, the 3rd shot wasn't that great. Need to start switching to broadheads this week. I'll post more about that, since it's slow around here. It will be my first time figuring out this tape on the fast Eddie, so I'm sure I'll put something in the rant thread along the way.

I hate tapes. I have a fast Eddie xl. Fixed pins are so much easier

I did get one stand cleaned up today I may have opened it up a bit to much, time will tell. I put a licking branch up also. I also took another stand down to put in a different location tomorrow or Tuesday. It did feel good just to sit in the stand and relax for a few minutes today, 2 months to go.

Didn't you put in a pond a few years back ash? If so how's that doing?

I use one pin. Adjustable slider.
I don't need no tape. I like to kill stuff close. Heck, 25 yards seems like a far shot.
Yep, I can shoot good groups at 50_60 yards but for killn, I like em close.
I've always strive for July 25 to plant my Brassica plots. Soil here is bone dry with a slim chance of decent rain next 10 days.
Gonna hold off untill it looks favorable.

You may have posted it already, but did you get the single pin or the double?

As far as getting the tape set up it’s actually super simple. Just get dialed in at 20 yards, put the calibration tape on and then work back to 60 yards. Once you’re hitting at 60 the yardage indicator is pointing to the number that corresponds to the correct tape for your bow.

Just remember to lock the dial in place before you remove the calibration tape and install the actual tape. I made that mistake once and had to start all over.
