I used to not really think it was that big a deal to break one, but with the cost and time spent tuning my hunting arorrows, it really pisses me off now. Ha!
Yep, as soon as I heard that arrow hit the metal frame, my first thought was "well that's a $20 I might as well have used for toilet paper."
I had a doe in the front yard of our new rental house last night and immediately had the itch that needs scratching. This place sits on a skinny 3.5 acres surrounded by houses. It's secluded tho. It reminded me of all the crap I have to get done before season starts. I really need to go prep some spots on my other property 20 minutes down the road, but I have movers coming this weekend. I have to go back to greensboro tomorrow. Smh. Hopefully we'll get settled in in a couple weeks, just in time for opener. I doubt I'll do much early season hunting anyway.
That smaller property a good rut funnel? Like leave it alone for a month or so before the cruising phase and then sit all day when the time is right.....
I'm not sure if I can hunt this little property the rental is on. I doubt the owner really cares, but I don't know if I'd be violating some ordinance. God forbid I arrow something and it end up in a neighbors yard too! It is tempting to go in the wood lot right behind me tho, ngl. Tons of sign and the terrain is awesome.
Never hurt to make a call or two before season. worse they can say is no. With bow we have 150 ft , crossbow 250ft and gun 500ft no you don't zone from homes and business's. . Just check whether your in town or village and see if your allowed based on those and state. Actually your local warden would know.
Okay, I'm pretty bummed out now but not as bummed as my son Greg. I just got off the phone with him. A few years ago he screwed up his ankle while in Afghanistan. It's been getting worse and the Air Force is finally going to let him have surgery to repair it. The surgery is scheduled for 31 August. No walking for 6 to 8 weeks and then comes rehab. He's been looking forward to joining me for the first two weeks of November at our family camp in Missouri and I've been looking forward to him being there. That's not going to happen now. So, I guess that with the exception of planned visit of a few days by @Ridgerunner3, I'll be alone in Mark Twain National Forest for the two weeks before gun season opens. Anyone want to come and join me? @cantexian - you know you have a standing invitation if you can make it.
I have a CAS trip potentially to the fort leonardwood area early November. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sitting here at the house west of Ellsinore, MO most likely. My season doesn't open until the 15th. I'm skipping Kentucky this year.
That sucks about Greg. If I can’t make it, you could always come down to Arkansas for a longer trip in November so you aren’t hunting alone.
No, I need to be here since my family shows up for gun season. Besides, it won't be the first time I've hunted there alone.
Wow that really sucks. I know you were excited and I was hoping to see him again this time around. I'm still planning to roll through there as long as the creek don't rise.
Yeah a GO is an option. We are not in city limits, so it may just be as simple as private property rights.
That sure is a bummer LC. Aint no family reunion that brings us families together like a hunting trip. It's trying to rain here. Cloudy and thunder but just a few drops. Huge area that farmers need some badly.
I need to take notes. Had a nice 8pt sleeping under my maple tree last Oct. Spooked him up when I remote started my truck heading out to hunt. I thought about it but these neighbors and their darn Ring door cameras.. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Hhmmmmm... AJ and I came back lage from putting birds to bed and garden work. AJ is infront of the closed garage door(storms) and won't come to me. Then I see white in his mouth. Walk over and there is a pile of white and brown deer fur on the ground. When I say pile ...kitchen chair pad sized pile. Pretty clean and soft. BTW A J is never out without me with him
i feel your pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!! enjoy your time with family like i know you will do. i went to my daughters cross country meet in Nov a few years back. don't check your trail cam where you would have hunted. "a little heads up"
