I'm up for about 15min now. Sitting on the turnip plot again. Will be last light if anything. Nice 54 with a wind out of the northwest. Good luck everyone.

    Good luck pm shift!

I saw one deer this morning. Couldn't tell if it was a doe or a buck. But it smelled the doe pee I put down and took off. As I was standing up my seat squeaked. I did put another piece to the puzzle. Every deer I've seen has come from the same direction. So I've got a new tree figured out with a bit more openess. Just need to move my stand there.

Good luck if you are out this evening.

I think my oldest being strong enough to pull legal draw weight has really gotten him and my middle son to take practice more seriously. Yesterday after I got home from hunting both of them wanted to shoot and again today. Both sessions lasted almost an hour and we began practicing shooting from multiple different angles and from elevation off the back deck. My oldest is determined that he will kill a deer with his bow this year. I think my middle son is close to pulling legal draw weight.

Yes it is. We have taken the time to evaluate every shot that the three of us have taken; talking about entry and exit, what vitals the shot is going to hit, and how long we would have to wait if we don’t see the deer go down. In addition to the practice, I am trying to use the opportunity to educate them as much possible to make sure we recover their first archery deer, even if they make a poor shot.

Same here and raining sideways...are you getting this cold? OMG! it's been a while since the cold actually hurt my hands. If everything wasn't so wet I'd bet on a frost tonight.
You can bet I'll be out in the morning, quiet walk in and high 30's low 40's. With winds and really cold rain all day, they will be moving from food to food.

Ended up going out. I took a plastic chair with me and set up inside an old out build. The door is broke off. I got there early I didn’t think the deer would be moving as early as they did. I was nodding off in the the chair. The deer came out by the truck last night so that’s what prompted me sitting in the building. As luck would have it when I opened my eyes there was a doe by the tailgate of the truck walking I tried to get her to stop but she was trying to catch up to the 3 in head of her that passed me by as my eyes were closed. It’s going to be one of those seasons I feel. Here was the view. ECA12207-86D2-4A49-B830-2E82AE4C57F7.jpeg

My sister is coming here tomorrow to help with my mom so that means I can slip out and go in the morning. According to the forecast the wind is supposed to be perfect for the stand I want to hunt. Looking forward to it.

Things are looking up with the cooler weather. Quite a bit of deer movement today but most were out of range for me. I did have one little yearling stand broadside for a while at about 10 yards, Hope he'll do that again in a couple of years.
