Well slept in and made eggs and pork sausage on the Blackstone. Hopefully be out this afternoon. Good kills. Hopefully find her today IN.
Dang just had two doe to my right. They stopped behind a tree only needed 3 more steps for a shot then they took off to the bedding. Maybe the wind swirled, not sure.
Tracked for 350yds through the woods. Blood is still bright, puddles where she stopped, traveled into a standing corn field to the south. Trying to get permission to keep tracking.
Man what a nice morning can’t believe I haven’t seen anything going to give it till 10:30 then call it a day Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
If she’s still going strong it is probably just a muscle hit unfortunately, keep after it. I hope I’m wrong though.
Been out since an hour before light. Saw a single antlerless deer at 7:40 and I just saw a hell of an 8 point walk by 70 yards away. He’s a huge buck for Wattensaw - maybe 130”.
had 3 small bucks and a fawn doe come by yesterday AM ... (spike/3pt/5pt) ..... winds were tough yesterday ... bumper crop of acorns ... millions down right now ... been years since Ive seen this heavy of a acorn drop, good for ALL critters ...
I’m walking around the field and I damn near just ran into a huge ass buck no more than 10 yards from me never saw him.
There’s two big scrapes here and they’re using the little trails I mowed. Found a good tree, that’s where I’ll plan this evening
Found arrow at impact sight. Covered in blood and fat. Upsetting but it's my fault. I took a shot I felt comfortable with and failed. Story of last night: At around 6pm I got bored and about blown out of my stand by the wind so I decided to get aggressive and spot and stalk my way over to where those does came out Friday night into the bean field about 6:30pm. I crept through the woods to a place I figured I could sit on the edge of the woodline and wait for those does to come back. My guess was perfect, except the does had already beat me to the field. I crawled to the edge of the field and was able to draw on the lead doe, broadside. I could only see from her mid-shoulder up due to the beans covering her lower half, I released the arrow and it felt really good but I'll try to do better next time.
Couple of years ago I called deer search for a buck that I trailed pools and sprays in my woods. He went into a 30 acre golden rod field and I lost him. Searcher said dead deer, tracked until he kicked him up. The bed was a puddle of blood. He said can't have much left we'll push him. Long s/ short in hill country a dead deer can run miles down hill. He headed straight down hill leaving a trail that looked like a paint sprayer made it. 3/4 mile later we heard a bang..not gun season. Behind houses. Followed up to woods edge and zip nothing. Searched along property lines nothing. Searcher said when he heard shot " there goes your deer". He figured upper leg shot caused all the bleeding but could not believe the amount with live deer. It happens good luck
I'm guessing I hit low, she spun when I shot and I think I caught lower brisket, entered low behind shoulder, exited front low brisket.
