Never see triplets, rarely see twins in VT. In NJ all Does have twins and occasionally triplets. Very cool.

Headed in to scout the riverbank, drop a cam, and do some fishing. I really hope this guy is still in the area and put on more size. Could be a real hammer.

Finally have a cam out and have a picture of a buck that has my interest for this coming season....Also, I spoke to one of the guys who hunts on the property with me and he said he has a pic of the buck that walked by my stand last year after I filled my buck tag

Terrible fishing but good scouting. Pretty sure one good buck is in there based on tracks coming out of the thick stuff and towards the private fields. Set a cam and attractant for some quick recon. Will pull in a few weeks so it's not stolen in August when everyone starts scouting and putting up stands.

Look at this 10 to 12 acre crazy growth. A buck could get in here and disappear. 4 to 8 feet tall.

I hear you. But I suppose they could bed on the perimeter. From what I saw today I don't believe they are in there now. May change come fall.

I got my euro back of my buck I killed last year that I posted up in the contest......I took a couple of pics of the skull in comparison to my 141" and 133" mounts I have up on the wall in my living room - If he would only had some tine length he would been great looking buck

Kayaked in and pulled a cam I had out for 10 weeks. Lots of pics, however there wasn't a single buck on it for 2 months. A lone doe was all over it for 6 weeks, and on the morning of June 14th she returned with her fawn. Really cool.

Then I finally got some buck action the first week of July....a Trashy younger buck, and a thicker mature buck. I would be happy to arrow either one of them but I wonder how old the "Trashmaster" buck is when I look at him near that mature. "Trashmaster" may only be 2 or 3 years old.

Body size comparison between three bucks, one of which I believe is 2, another 2 or 3, then the mature buck.

The look you have after covering five miles in 90* heat scoyting public land.
    upload_2023-7-22_19-17-30.jpeg

I jumped two bucks out of their beds as well as a doe and fawn and then a lone doe on the way out. The bigger buck was probably a 110” 8 point in velvet with another 6-8 weeks to grow before shedding. Little buck was 4 point. I found an old rubline on the edge of an overgrown logging trail that led down to a pine thicket on the edge of a marsh. I followed a trail through the pines and about 30 yards into the slough, I jumped the big buck. He was bedded in waist high grass, right against the bottom of the only oak with 50 yards. I picked out two trees with 75 yards of the bed that I can get In depending on the wind direction. The does and fawn were bedded about 200 yards away on the edges of a bench coming off the main ridge north of the marsh. On a SE wind I can slip in and set up between the buck bed and the doe bedding.

    A few rubs

Active scrape and track 75 yards west of the bed. On the old logging road.

The 8 point today was similar to this 8 point I killed in 2018. The 2018 buck scored 110” with brows that were barely big enough to count. The 8 today had bigger brows and still has several good weeks left to grow before shedding. I am guessing it get north of 120” by the time it sheds.

VS, what is it that attracted deer to that spot? Minerals?

    That buck "trashmaster"
Looks young. Could be a slammer in a couple years.

CanTex, no, they don't have that long to grow., 4 (possibly).
    Nice group Allen.
CBW, Love seeing twins myself. Few here. Coyotes are abundant.
I sure hope we don't get as much snow as last winter so I can get out more and kill more.

Dug a 50 gallon trough into the ground today and filled it with water. My first time doing so.
    Perennial Hotspot for morning activity..
Even though it within 150 yards of a river, I'm curious if the deer will like it?
Normally start my Brassicas this week but ground is dry and very little chance for rain next 10 days. Will refrain untill rain is imminent.

I know most of us need rain badly.
Can't imagine what those that raise crop for a living are going through. Gotta be a real beat down.
