i was going to hunt today (or try to), when at beginning of week when I started talking to the Mrs about whats on the calendar I was told we were taking the kids to Vala's , now we've been like 5 times already but...... kids love it and so does the Mrs so I never even brought up hunting today.

Now the front hits and my cell cameras are just blowing up with buck movement.

Sitting water a few times I was close enough to take a shot with the bow...never had the stamp and never took the shot though.

I really think they are some beautiful birds though...

Moon is almost overhead in the CST. Hope you are still on stand for midday action.

Just got settled in. Ground blind looks like cat got pissed off and decided to use his claws on it. Nothing a little duck tape won't fix.

View from the blind. I'm on the edge of a bedding thicket next to the river bottom corn field.

I'm up. Long hike up the hill. I bring two tshirts. The first one is now in a sealed gallon zip lock. Breezy this afternoon. Was 70, temp is dropping. You can feel the cold front rolling in. 2" of rain starting tonight, so hopefully the Bucks decide to head off the mountain to feed before they bed up all day tomorrow. Time will tell. I'll also be up here on Sunday an hour before the rain stops. Good luck everyone.

I’m all set up in the spot I came to hunt. It’s pretty early but vehicles were pouring onto the WMA here in anticipation of the cold front tomorrow.

While I’m far enough in not to have to worry about someone setting up here, I know that everyone will be walking and looking for a place to hunt, so I wanted to be here while they are stomping around.

The jungle I'm dealing with tonight. Took about 45 minutes to get here. One heck of a drag out of this place! 20231006_161423.jpg 20231006_161412.jpg

Finally up. Wow, this is looking to be one hell of an evening. Bumped the largest 10pt I've seen on hoof out of the standing bean field on my way to the stand. Bedded 40yds from where I always walk in, down wind of course. Got to my stand finally, a small buck comes running out of nowhere and stops 10yds in front of me.
