We have processed alot of deer over the years. Sometimes 15-20 per year between all my kids and me. Backstrap, stew meat and grind!!! A really good quality fast grinder and sharp knives is the key to fast processing. Also 3 people makes it go quick, one to cut meat, one to grind and one to vacuum seal.
Checked a camera after the AM hunt. As is usual after the Bucks shed velvet all my bigger Bucks have disappeared. They go up on the hill and dont come down until the rut. All the pics were Doe and small yearling Bucks. So up the mountain I go this afternoon, hopefully be all settled in by 3.
Very nice congrats!! You can save the processing fee for new gear or beer or something. It really adds up if you shoot multiple deer. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Things are looking up a little. Had a couple of does come through and then a little forkhorn wandered through and practiced whipping up on a sapling for a while so that was entertaining. The does were far enough out that I didn't have a shot but at least the deer seem to be moving a bit finally. Good luck to everyone out today and congratulations to those who've scored.
I'm up on the mountain. Cooled down and tied in for a 4.5hr sit. On the way in I found a fresh rub, lots of tracks and all of the tops of the small trees are chewed off. Good sign for sure. Let's see what happens.
Congrats on the doe FM Well checked only cam I have out...could have had a chip shot on sway belly old doe...lol...figure wrong stand pick. I also got the young 8 in last night. Hubby's being a turd about eating late so no hunt tonight. Looks like I'll be prepping some casseroles this week and hunting just mornings in this heat. Cold front suppose to arrive on our anniversary 10/6. After that well... I'll be getting out the little violin for him
Had to make a shooting lane by tying my hand saw to my bow rope, throwing the saw into a small branch thereby snagging it, and then pulling the branch to me. Then using said hand saw to cut the small branches.
One final day at the lake for the year. The water is cold, but the temp is about 85 degrees. I'll be back to hunting mentality on Thursday. Plus, only 11 more days until my Colorado trip. It's hard to believe it's almost here. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

Pretty quiet so far. 72-74, suns behind the hill, temps gonna start dropping, leaves are crunchy, light breeze pushing my scent down hill which is good, seen a red squirrel in the 3 Beech Nut trees off to my right. 2.5hrs to go.
Walked across a submerged beaver damn to access an island core. Water up to my crotch. Check. .Mosquitoes biting by the hundreds. Check. Found a big buck bed in here in the off season. Who knows if anything is within a quarter mile of me. Saddle or bust.
Congrats FM. That'll be s ome fine eating. Just got back to my cabin. A neighbor finally said yes to hunt his 40 acres along the river. Gathered up some climbing stick and a stand and walked through hell to find an oak in a perfect spot only to find out the straps were 4 " to short to wrap around the tree. 88* here and I can't believe I attempted this. Pants are going into the garbage. Signed : Dejected in Minnesota:
I’ll be heading out the door shortly to try my luck again. I’d like to go across the road but the east wind is not good for there. I’m going behind the house but on the neighbor’s 5 acre property next to mine. It has a bit more deer traffic than my place behind the house. He wants to sell it to me but hasn’t named a price yet. Im sure it will be more than I’m willing to spend.
