Here’s a better pic of the buck. I’m not sure if he’s bedded about 20 yards behind me or not. Does finally moved off.
Opening morning dead quiet, bright moon, zero wind, ,lots of dew........no animals save some birds squawking. Now last night our porch got tore up and I was awakened 2x's by very strange pounding sounds out back in the woods. Need to go down and see if my old coupe blind has damage. The bear's been very active around our upper lands....field corn is 50ft off our drive.
Dead this morning. The only deer I saw was in the field on the way in the dark. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
shot a small doe on purpose this morning. Told myself is a small one comes in this year I’ll dress and butcher it myself not saying I did a great job but got her wuartered out and in the cooler on ice brough her home and I’ve started with the back straps they came out in a few pieces but that’s okay. I’ll do the legs and random meat later in the grinder when I get back home Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Nice bud! Processing your own deer is way better. No need to wait for a butcher, and you know, without question, you get your own deer! I'm in the process of making my first skin right now! While I wasn't thinking about doing this when I skinned it, my girls said they wanted a deer fur to compliment their recently acquired rabbit furs. Hopefully, it turns out decent despite the couple of holes in the skin. If it turns out good, I'll be more careful when when skinning from now on. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Mikey, little ones are just as much if not more work if you are really picky on taking off sinew and fat…. Congrats on the doe, bro! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Back at the camp no cell service. Seen 11 does only 3 in range came to full draw but couldn’t get a clear shot. I’m planning on going back there in the morning. I’m hunting a creek crossing on the back of a soybean field this afternoon.
