Lol so jacked for Sunday to get here I thought all day yesterday was Friday...lol
Would be funnier IF daughter wasn't suppose to arrive here at midnight from meetings to sleep over. Well she didn't show and had turned her phone to mute for a good night's sleep so never got my texts until 5 this morning. I was up nearly all night worried She will be here tonight.
I need to be chilling in a tree the next 3 month....

Thanks brother. I’ve never had any faith in full moon mornings and afternoons, and the fact that I’m hunting on my place where I haven’t seen a deer yet doesn’t boost my confidence, but I just can’t quit so I’m up, dressed and having coffee. I’ll be heading out in about 10 minutes.

All set up waiting on light… got in and set later than I wanted to but we’re here. Put a camera up here two weeks ago and there were a pile of does in here yesterday evening and AM. Good luck everyone

I’ve been watching that. I’m trying to decide where I want to hunt starting on the 7th. I can either go back to Arkansas to match wits with educated deer or I can go back to mid-Missouri where I killed my buck last year. We have this one roaming around there now. He is one of those big bodied deer and he is a tank.

Well crap. My place behind the house is only four acres. I figured it would be wise to scan with my thermal imager before I walked in.

The deer are already out there. I guess I’ll just wait until they’re gone.

Wow, that looks like at least a 5 or 6-year-old deer. That would get me excited. Decisions - decisions???

I’m set up. It’s a half hour later than I wanted but I’m here.

The deer weren’t leaving and I didn’t want to spook them walking in so I came up with a better plan.

I went in the house, woke my wife up and told her what was going on so that what I was about to do didn’t scare the crap out of her.

I called all five dogs into the front room where the dog door is and yelled “Squirrel”! All five of them tore out into the yard barking and howling and I watched with the thermal imager as the deer bounded away.

The deer are accustomed to being run off by the dogs.

    Problem solved.

Dad just got busted by a big doe at 25 yards, camera intel tells me they have been past this area from 8:15-45, hoping they make that mistake today. A lot more evening activity on the camera than AM

Good luck morning crew. Looks like it's gonna be a wacky weekend for me: look at a car, play pickleball, sit in treestand, neighborhood meeting, birthday party for the wife and all the kids/grandkids/SIG others at the house, so my tree time will be limited...
