tomorrow... thanks @virginiashadow for reminding me to find my thermocell! And almost forgot to buy my license/tags! The early season ishtshow begins!
Sounds like you are too. From the looks of that buck this morning I don't think he is the one making the big rubs in here. Rack had good mass but wasn't tall.
Good luck AM shift! I'll be heading out this afternoon. Major temp drop like everyone else, but we also have a 15-20 mph wind which kind of sucks. I always struggle in the wind. I know what deer "supposedly"do in winds like this, but never seems to work out that way for me when I adjust accordingly. I think I'm going to scout my way in, looking at thicker/cover areas that are near the wet season stream beds like I did last week.
Goodluck out there today guys, went out scouting this morning and prepping spots for the saddle for opening day in PA, went to my gun club that has 100 aces to hunt, pulled in and there in the middle of the 200 yard rifle range was 3 does, 2 fawns and a spike, there is some really thick cover that leads into a swamp just off the range, going to set a camera up there, would be loud sitting in there but hey the deer are there.
Frost on the pumpkins this morning. Headed north.... unfortunately not to hunt. Taking the wife on a "fall color" your along Lake Superior. Ranger is loaded waiting on another to say they are ready. Good luck to anyone fortune to be out this weekend. Cant wait to see what hits the ground!
Might have to/most likely scrap today's hunt. My Sister-in-law's husband is in the ER with a brain bleed. He's getting prepped for surgery as we speak.
I wish. Lol. I ordered the backpack straps and they should arrive tomorrow. Goal is to use them for an afternoon hunt asap.
Update: It's not looking good. He was in surgery for 3 hours. they drilled holes in his head to relieve pressure, but cannot stop the bleeding. They don't know how much brain is ok or dead. They've called for family to come to the hospital. 47 years old, father of 3. The guy is a one upper and a teller of tall tales, but would give you the shirt off your back if you needed it.
