If I see them coming I don’t get that rattled, but if they suddenly appear my heart jumps into my throat and starts beating like crazy. Here’s a true story: Some of you will remember that I had a pacemaker implanted when I was training for my full marathon in 2016. Every year I have to go in and have it checked. It actually records sudden significant changes in my heart rhythm. If I’m climbing a hill or working out it doesn’t bother with that because it’s a gradual increase in heart rate. In December 2019 I went in to have the device checked. The technician said there was one instance where my heart rate jumped from normal to extremely fast almost instantly and asked if I remembered it. I asked what day and time. She couldn’t pin-point the time but she said it was sometime the morning of October 27th. That was the morning I looked over my shoulder and the 10 point I ended up killing was 35 yards away walking straight to me.
I'm up for the evening sit. Managed to get away from work, rain helped me out on that one. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Good luck PM shift!!!!! Was Brett heading out? I'm wondering if he is cursing out Holt yet with the hang on and sticks.....LOL!!!
Good luck Holt. My wife has to be up early in the morning and my daughter has a late soccer practice, so no hunting today. If I can get up in the morning and drive an hr, I'll be hunting morning and evening.
Stick and stand was the hardest mentally for me to get use to. I can remember days when I wanted nothing to do with them and would just scout. But now I've grown to love them and look forward to see what kind of tree I can get into. I'm sure VS will be cussing me for even talking him into them after a few hunts, lol. Different world them a climber. But will help him get to were he needs to be. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Nah, just happened to be the prettiest guy on the range when the Game and Fish photographer was there. Pretty sure the country song about friends in low places applies.
Yeah, I've tried the switch a few times and can't bring myself to fully committing, especially where I live with so many straight trees and being able to maneuver around branches easily with a saddle and a 5 pound climber/platform.
I have several pictures of them, and arrowed a beauty last year but never found him. That second one is really odd, maybe CLS is right, coydog? I'd shoot the crap out of him anyways
Its been on /off for 2 days. My buddy saw 1 elk, no shot. Haven't seen any hunters with success. Seen a bunch of deer, called a moose to 10 yds, grouse, bear scat...only elk we heard were in an adjacent unit on private. We were on the tracks and fresh elk scat this morning....climbed up a couple hundred for muddy, slick as owl **** on a sycamore branch mountain side....about 60 degrees on all 4s...couldn't catch up. We've been all over this unit, putting serious miles on...lots of elevation gain/loss, through a ton of blow down. 4th and 10...we got go for it.
Had a fawn sneak up behind me. It ran off when the wind picked up. Got high winds right now. Would guess 20 - 40 mph. Can't hear a thing, only going to be able to spot deer now. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
