Yup! That's why I don't have my cell cam out yet. Got to get my deck finished. Only 3 posts, 6 rails and 143 spindles to go!
No need. He got up and walked right by me. Little six point. I’ve had enough of this. I’m gonna go home and kill deer. They won’t be big bucks, but I’m gonna kill something.
I hear ya. I hate your trip up there didn't pan out. And the way it changed when you got there is a kick in the nuts. I've had that exact thing happen on a buddy's farm a couple years back.
Awesome buck! Its been awhile but feels good to be back on here. Last night was my first sit and was able to lay eyes on a doe and 2 fawns that had just lost their spots, but never came into range. i will still consider it a successful first sit lol.
Congrats to the successful deer hunters this weekend! This last weekend's elk report. We got two bulls to chuckle at us, but they just didn't seem to be fired up at all. They would only give a couple chuckles, to both bugles and cow calls, but then would clam up. One of them my hunting partner had gotten him fired up last wednesday evening, he never got a shot but got to see him, said it was a very good bull for public land. He has cows and is hanging in a timbered draw, doesn't seem leave it during daylight. We tried to hunt him a couple different times but just couldn't get him to fire up and come in. We didn't want to go into his bedding area and blow him out, at least not yet. We never seemed to be on the right side of the draw for our wind to be good for entry either. We got another bull to respond Sunday morning, he only chuckled a couple of times to us, and clammed up about 10 minutes after shooting light. We climbed up to try to get on the same level with him but just couldn't ever get him to sound off again so we could come up with a plan. Did some cow calling hoping he'd slip in quietly, but never saw him. Not sure if he bedded or kept climbing while we were climbing and we simply never got to the same level as him. The wallows have stopped showing sign of recent use. I did see about 3 rubs, they are acting like they're just starting to get ramped up. Late this year, usually by this time there are rubs everywhere. I'm hoping next weekend will be full bore. I'll be solo next weekend, one hunting partner had his time off canceled due to a big customer order and short staffing (machinist), and the other has family obligations. Here's your elk woods pics @virginiashadow The first one is where the good bull and his cows are bedding, the stretch of timber closest to me.
