Semi live in the truck waiting out a thunder storm. Had one gobble about 50 yards l to the thunder right as I got to the truck. Hot sign the whole time but they weren't talking. Been slowwww. Headed back as soon as the lightening passes. Guess I'll get wet tho

No gobbles anywhere no rain but cold! One big raccoon came up from neighbors and climbed a dead tree then into its den 50yrds away. That tree gets cut down today

Exactly. I spent as much time scouting deer sign as I did turkey hunting. I was on a piece of public I had never stepped foot on. I don't know about pressure during season, but tons of sign and beds everywhere. I picked two trees to hang a stand on if I go back.

I think I'm going back to that spot in the morning. I feel like a sick day is coming on.

    Some sights from yesterday.

Birds can kiss my grits. 2 days of bowhunting turned out to just be a lot of walking through some beautiful woods. I'm officially over turkeys and can't wait till deer season.

I did find my first NC shed ever...at east what was left of one. Lol. 20230502_094454.jpg

Speaking of minerals. I should probably get going on that soon. Probably get all of my cameras/minerals out next weekend.

The deer have been absolutely hammering my mineral sites for a few weeks now.

    Freshening it up for ya!
I got my minerals out in a handful of spots, lanes and paths cut, clover is doing well. Have some other plans for the main prop, hoping to brush hog through this giant green briar patch to connect the two fields from the bottom. Could turn into a big travel route.

I haven't done a thing this year to prep property. I'll probably hunt missouri again and it's kind of hard to get out there to do any prep work. As far as hunting here in NC, I'll probably just get what I can get.

For whatever reason I've just been procrastinating everything hunting this spring/early summer. Didn't make it turkey hunting and still haven't put my minerals/cameras out. I tell myself I'm going to and then something comes up or I just get lazy about doing it.

First step is done. Replaced all batteries, cleared all SD cards, and set date/time stamps. Think I am finally going to retire my 2 Covert Mp-E5's... Neither of the display screens works so I can't set anything and last fall one of them stopped working altogether.

Might need to go to the hospital for a blood transfusion from all the mosquitoes but I finally got them out.

5 ticks stuck to me…. Haven’t had them dug in in quite a few years
