I had a great day bass fishing today. My son in law and I fished until noon and we brought home 48. I got those filleted, vacuum sealed and in the freezer. My son in law works nights and had to get some sleep so I went back and brought home 11 more. We threw back a lot of little ones. I’d guess we caught somewhere around 75 bass today.
I didn’t catch a single fish in deep water. Every one was in six feet of water or less and many of them were in three feet or less. Most of them fell to a chrome/blue Rat-L-Trap and a few bit a chartreuse/white spinner bait. I fished from noon to 5:00 today and brought home another 23. About half of them but the spinner bait. Some were a little better quality today. I’m surprised I had such a good half day with the temp drop and the wind shift to NE.
We brought home another 28 today for a total of 99 for the trip. I’m just OCD enough that I was a bit irritated it wasn’t 100. I was going to go home tomorrow because it was supposed to rain but the chance of rain diminished and the wind is supposed to be out of the SW so I’m going to fish one more day. By the way, for anyone wondering about the crazy numbers we’re bringing home this lake has no creel limit. Also, my thumbs are in bad shape from lower-lipping bass. Maybe they’ll feel a little better in the morning.
I went out for the last sit of the season Saturday afternoon. Didn’t feel like posting live after how poorly it ended up last weekend. Had two does go by at about 80 yards around 4pm. The wind was to be NE until a couple hours after dark and switch to SW. NE was perfect for the spot I was in, same spot and same wind as last Saturday. Unfortunately, it switched to SW about an hour before dark which doesn’t work there as well. I stuck it out just in case, but nothing came out.
MN has unlimited anterless zones, too. just checking in - what a season it was! Time to put in the work for next fall.
We brought home 27 more today for a trip total of 126 brought home, filleted and vacuum sealed. If I had to guess we probably caught around 200 counting the ones we threw back. My back is screaming. I really wish my trolling motor pedal was recessed.
I got home yesterday and was looking forward to a few days off lounging around. My oldest son called and wanted to go come and go fishing. I asked when and he said “tomorrow”. So, it’s almost 5:00 am and we’re about to head out to hit one of my Missouri spots.
