I saw 40+ in the spot I was at Saturday morning. 15 of them came within 35 yards. If you would have been there, you could have killed the three allowed on that particular WMA in about an hour. I would have if I had made better shots. Just because Wattensaw closes, doesn't mean the whole state is closed. But, I have told you that before.
Camp Robinson SUA, it is my go to late season spot that is closer to home than Wattensaw. AGFC usually plants several food plots. It has a good mixture of ridge systems and thick creek bottoms. It is along the eastern shoreline of Lake Conway which also happens to be a good bass and crappie lake. I was set up in a creek bottom 70 yards from where it fed into the lake. There was a food plot next to the west side of the creek bottom. Same spot my son killed a doe at during youth rifle season. Other than a four day draw permit rifle hunt in mid-November and the January youth rifle weekend, it is exclusively bow hunting. The only tricky part is that this WMA is also a premiere dog training facility, you have to watch the events schedules because certain sections will close on weekends due to dog training events. But, since you are retired that wouldn't effect you much. It rarely closed during the week in hunting season. There is also a campground for trailers with full hook ups. I am not sure, but I believe the camp ground is free, but first come, first served.
I'm curious How many of you hunt Ohio and within 20 miles of the chemical burn? To that, how concerned will you be eating the deer killed from under the clouds fall out and streamflow of this?
Cantex - kudos to you for hunting so late in the season. LC - I'm not sure how you keep on killing!!! Amazing for sure. Congratulations. Last year at this time I went to the Saginaw River ice fishing on 12 inches of ice. This past Sunday we went to the Saginaw River and fished from a boat. We caught 15 keepers - 15" +. A crazy winter for sure.
I want more meat in the freezer. I have three growing boys to feed. I hunt until the season ends or I tag out. I get six tags on my resident license in Arkansas. If I fill every one of them, it would get us all the way through the year. Usually, I get three or four.
What states give unlimited doe tags? Years ago I was on a southern form and remember a guy that just stacked up doe.
Maybe so but that's not the handle I remember, then again I can't remember the sites name either..lol good ppl as I recall they had regular gatherings
Well, it’s nothing fancy but it’s mine, it runs good and it’s hooked up to head to Tennessee tomorrow.
I’m headed to a small TWRA lake near Drummonds, TN called Glen Springs. It’s where I used to fish when I lived in Tennessee.
Snowstorm 10 that I passed up this year. Hope he sticks around this next year. Been here since end of October. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I also recall either him or other guy that had a bunch of buck tags as well. In a contest he was able to switch up to a better buck at least once. It was a two buck count he had several bucks that year. So what states do you guys know that allow more than two buck. The unlimited doe question was eye opening to me thanks for the response.
Maryland is 3 bucks and something like 45 does. Use to be unlimited doe in archery, now it's 15, haha Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
