They just left going north. I am on the east side of the food plot. I need soemthing to walk this trail out if thicket to the food plot. C,mon deer follow the plan.
Arrow launched, five yard shot. She ran off hard with her tail tucked. Blood on a leaf at 10 yards. Going to give it until 11:30 and get down. That will be aboht an hour. Almost doubled, had five come in, shot the lead doe.her fawn ran off her, three more hung around for about 15 Minutes but never got closer than 50 after the shot.
Just shot a second one. That shot was back, liver and or guts. She went back in the thicket. I can barely see her at 80 yards. Going to give her time.
I am done shooting. Going to climb down and recover the first doe. She went the opposite direction of the second doe. Pretty sure that first one was dead on the run.
I have 300 yards on this first doe. Still finding pinpricks of blood and occasional dime size. Originally thought it was double lung the way she ran off. Arrow has blood to the nock. Haven’t seen anything that lungs like coughed up lung blood. I am confused.
I lost blood on the first doe after the last post. Walked another 200 yards through some pretty open woods, grid searched a couple of thickets. Nothing, took a closer look at the arrow and found some white hairs. I am thinking a low brisket shot. She never bedded and never slowed down that I could tell.
I am out of the woods and at my son’s basketball game. Never found the arrow, must still be in her. I am confident I gave the first doe a flesh wound and she will live. Not sure what do with the second one. My gut is telling to give it overnight and get a tracking dog. Problem is, what I thought was one guy on a horse running dog training, is actually a dozen people riding all over the place. I met them at the parking lot when I got back to truck. They will be there until Monday with the holiday weekend. not the outcome I was hoping for. I knew things were going to be iffy with the second. I couldn’t believe the first one wasn’t dead and never bedded.
She wasn’t bedded. She was just standing in the thicket and walked off slowly. I did walk through the thicket where she went. It was only. 40 yards across. I have a feeling off aways before bedding since there were two fawns with her.
