Took a few mile walk through knee deep snow looking for sheds. Found nothing but a workout. I’m beat.

I’m set up in the new tree for the afternoon sit.

I had left all of my gear in the tree despite the fact that it’s public. NO ONE was going to stumble across this tree as far back as I am.

If you zoom in my head is right at the base of the large limb on the left. I sett up to spin left at 30 feet so I’m actually sitting on top of the small tree on the left.

Six does went by at 60 yards.

    Almost guessed the right tree.

I’m down and at my bike. Ended up seeing 10 does but they were all out of range.

I’ll try again in the morning.

Didn't get a deer this year, but after doin inventory I still have about 1/2 a deer in steaks and roasts. Used the last 10lbs of burger tonight for a batch of jerky. If I didn't lose a freezer last year I'd have quite a bit more. At least I'm not completely out, but i have to find a way to do my homework this year.

I’m all set up for what will probably be my last sit of the season. I’m going to watch the game tonight and then go home tomorrow.

The Arkansas season runs until the end of February but Wattensaw closes when the White River gets to 28 feet at Clarendon, AR which it is forecast to do on Friday. It doesn’t re-open until it gets down to 27 feet which takes a long time., so if it closes that’s it for the year.

The late season hasn’t been kind to me but I’ve had a great season and I don’t have any complaints.

You have had a great season. Late season is always tough. Since they were too far out last night, maybe it's a morning spot. Good luck this morning Chief.

It’s 9:38 and I’ve only seen squirrels. I’m going to sit until 10:30 or 11:00 if I can stay awake.

Well, that’s it for me. If by some miracle the river doesn’t hit 28 feet I will be back next weekend but my season is probably finished.

Darn it, the only WMA in the entire state open to late season bowhunting will be closed if the river hits flood stage. All 3.2 million acres of public land on that one place, shut down, season over.

The outfitter put us in a blind with four other guys. My brother and I were only there for the one day. The other guys were there for the whole weekend. The guides tried to give us all the birds, but, one of the guys in the other group was a mouthy ahole and spouted off and cussed at us about how we weren't taking his bird. His friends were embarrassed and told us to take their birds and leave one for him. I am not sure that fool even hit one, he seemed to be the worst shot out of the six of us shooting. My brother and I definitely killed 4 of the 8, and no one argued that fact. But, we didn't want to take the other guys birds and make an issue between them and their friend. Personally, if I had been in their shoes, that would be the last time I hunted with that guy. His behavior was embarrassing and I felt bad for the others.

That's a tough position to be in. Makes the hunt less enjoyable for sure. I'm usually the one missing the birds, so just poking a little fun. At least you got to get out after them. I heard a lot of birds are heading back north already.

I sent you a text Adam. As of this moment the White River is supposed to hit 28 feet at Clarendon at 1:00 pm on Sunday.

The WMA shut down in flood prone regions doesn’t take place until midnight on the day it hits 28 feet, so providing they don’t get a lot more rain between now and then the weekend will open for hunting.

I’m planning on going back Thursday for one more try and I’ll be there until it closes so if you're up for one more hunting trip let me know and head on over.
