I'm out again punishing my self. About 30 minutes into my hike. Just cut some fresh big buck tracks. It's raining and have 15 mph winds to boot. Should be interesting day. Not going to stop to hunt unless I find what I'm looking for. Chasing them down today! Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Just had a nice 8 pt walk up to me at 10 yards. He was bedded on a point in a blow down. He heard me walking and for some reason decided to come right to me. I didn't have a arrow knocked. He stopped broadside just standing. So close! I can smell him, still stinks like rut. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Just got setup. Found the tree I set up in the first time I every took my daughter hunting. Haven't been able to locate it. Today I dropped into a ravine and there it was. So decided to hunt it. Very steep. If I shoot a deer here, just about impossible to get out. So steep you have to climb it on all fours. But I do see deer here often. Just a steep ridge with a huge marsh at the bottom. This is the place also I found the 2nd biggest buck tracks I have ever seen. Haven't seen them this year. It was this week last year when I found them. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I wanted to setup looking over a small secluded crp field. Lots of buck sign all around it scrapes, licking branches, and hundreds of rubs. As I was making my way around I found a fresh kill, big doe. Maybe 24 hours old. Then keep moving and found a tree. Some reason I talked myself out of, walked 30 yards and jumped a doe. Then I look up and a huge fresh scrape with buck tracks. To late to back track my scent was already layed down, so I moved on to the spot I'm at now. Some deer tracks, but nothing crazy. I was just running out of time. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I am up. Back at the same food plot my son killed a doe on during youth weekend. I have a buddy sitting the NW corner on the trail the does came out of that night. I am on the SE corner covering a creek bottom where O am hoping deer will come through. Creek crossing at 40 yards, lake shore 50 yards to my south, food plot behind me.
Aww man that sucks! You zeroed in and we’re on them. Was it a clean miss? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Just got home. I will try and keep this short. The buck was walking down the edge of a swamp. His legs were completely black. I range the perfect spot I was thinking he was going to walk. He took his time, got to watch him for 10 minutes. He walked perfect into my lane then stopped. I was already pulled back and I settled the pin. Shot went off clean and I heard a large pop. He was standing in a foot of mud when I shot. He jumped out and ran out 30 yards. Then just stood there looking around. He flicked his tail a few times then just continued walking the edge of the swamp. Waited 30 minutes and went to looking for arrow. Couldn't find it, which is normal in the swamp, it goes completely under the mud. Followed his tracks for 75 yards and not a spot of blood or a hair. Not sure what that pop noise was. I felt I hit him, but the his reaction and his trail say other wise. What a crappy season. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
