A huge armadillo came out of its burrow 15 yards away. My heart about jumped into my lap.

Nothing yet. Down to the last 45 minutes. The wind has died down and can hear everything. Going to be tough to shoot.

Nothing else for me. I too will be back at it tomorrow.

The raccoons were back at it tonight. Had 2 actually try and climb my tree. They even came back a 2nd time and tried again. Damn things are horny! Haha

I can't stand raccoons in any shape or situation. They are super annoying

I took the other day to do some post season scouting since we have snow on the ground. What I figured out was my stand was about 50yds from where it needed to be. Here's some pics from the trip. I especially liked the double runway through the snow. And lots of beds![IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Looking good, I like scouting as much as hunting. Connecting dots is the best, then when it all lines up and you kill it’s the s**t

Great Intel Jim. It doesn't take long for deer to know there hunted. I trick I use to do would leave the old stand and place a new one on the new trail/sign. Then just keep moving as needed. I would only hang the stand the day I hunted. Catch them off guard.

Gotta admit, you guys "scouting" diving deep late season and hunting bedding areas are screwing up big time.
    I truly don't understand?

You think that works or do we give deer too much credit? I get caught up trying to trick deer and I think 8/10 I’m in my own head.

Care to elaborate? I hate car salesman and I go buy a car when I need one. When ya want to kill a deer you have to go to em or wait for em to come to you…

I’m up for my last sit this trip. I left camp at the same time I usually do and forgot it doesn’t take as long to get tp this spot so I got all set up and settled in an hour and 15 minutes before daylight.

    Beats being late though.

Some hunter sit and wait for there prey. And some hunters go after what they want. Just 2 different styles that both work. Don't knock something til you tried it. Why does it matter what other hunters do anyway?

We definitely give them to much credit. Just as a example, I have access to a very large track of private land. Every hunter there baits and makes it impossible to hunt natural deer movement. All movement is around bait. Most deer are use to this and avoid it til after dark. But they will circle wide in day light and stage a couple hundred yards down wind to check out area. I've had a lot of success just setting up 150 yards out from other members corn piles and catching them circling.

A few times I have had deer bust me in a tree. Then next time it came in, it would look straight at that tree from 100 yards out. If I was in it, they would either turn and sneak away or blow. So I would move just 30 or so yards out of sight. The deer wouldn't see me in the tree and come by and I would shoot it from a different angle. This has worked many times for me when I hunted permanent sets.

At the end of the day, I don't know. Every deer has its own quirks and personality and just hunt them according.

Good luck Littlechief and Holt later. I’m planning a sit at work here in an hour or so. Getting some OT at work to go towards my Missouri trip this year.
