Today was the last day of late season then on Christmas day aspecial late season open until Jan. 1 Deer have been on the property alot, just don't know ow when. I needed get the cams back out. Cold killed batteries. Congrats to those that have scored. I'm still deciding on if I need another deer.
i am patiently waiting for the day after Christmas to be able to climb back in a tree. but in the meantime ive been following along every couple of days. congrats to the guys that have connected as of lately. so my son has graduated from college (VT Tech College / VT Tech Flight Acadamy), 6 month early and has been offered a job with Republic to FLY.!!!! So Proud of him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wanted to hunt today but my brother called and invited my wife and I to go along with him and his wife to Silver Dollar City today. It’s not my thing at all but my wife loves it so it was one of those “Yes, Dear” things. I’ve been hunting for another doe and nothing has shown up in daylight on my place. Needless to say I wasn’t in my stand this morning when this pic was taken. Look on the tree 15 yards behind the does and you’ll see where I wanted to be this morning.
Wow i have a camera blowing up. Some does came through this AM early then 5 different bucks came through noses down. 2 of them look pretty decent. Hard to tell grainy pics. Some little lady is smelling pretty.
Look at that one doe, checking to see if you are in the stand. The deer are reading your forum posts again.
I may have to change my hunting plans. It's going to be too cold for a few days. Any emergency arises and I'm out in that deep by myself and it won't be good. Hoping to use the snow after this artic cold comes through to try and help pick up that big bucks tracks and set up and kill him. Don't have but a few weeks left.
I've never been in weather this cold....they are predicting negative 20s with windchill tomorrow and Fri. Holy hell.
Like I said before, I just don’t have the gear for those temps. I’ll just have to wait for Saturday morning. It’ll probably still be cold enough to push the envelope on what I can gear up for but I’m itching to get back out.
Spent early 80's in Air Force, Montana, coldest ever was 60 below WITHOUT wind chill. After it gets to 10 degrees it all feels the same, COLD. Hunted Alberta twice for whitetails, best hunts were always when it got below 20's. I dont need a deer bad enough to risk my life or someone else's who would have to come find my frozen ass. Merry Christmas from a grumpy old man who cant find time to even hunt the backyard this year. Thanks to all that post on here, feel all your hunts, gets me thru this year.
Haha welcome to the midwest. It will be 50 degrees in a week. When it gets this cold i usually head to a heated goose pit but we dont have enough flying here to get my fire lit.
