Mornings and afternoons have been spent helping my youngest adjust to school and sports in MO the last few weeks. Soccer tournaments and practices. Lots of studying and soccer. And a lot of the places I hunt are really hit or miss...meaning yeah I could get lucky but scouting is extremely important. Bottom line I'd rather scout more than I hunt right now until the weather begins to cool...tomorrow and the next ten days look pretty good weather wise and I may be able to get out.

Good answer! Was just wondering, I know you hated the late season in VA, with good reason. I thought maybe you already wrapped up your season. But you may find some action still going on where you are now, plenty of time left.
I'm tagged out for bucks, but would love to still be out even just chasing a doe. But I gotta travel 6 hours and spend a good amount of coin, it sucks.

I have been trying to track down a big buck for weeks. Scouting and trail cams...it ain't easy for me. That is all I want to kill right now...a big boy. I could just go out and hunt without scouting and hunt 20 times without seeing a deer. I need to learn these places by really walking and turning things up...concrete info

Nothing for me this afternoon. That will do it for VT. Two trips planned for January in NJ. Two more chances to get a Buck on the board for Team 9 and a chance to break the odd year curse.

Slugger - sorry to hear about your deer.

Things are really slowing down here.

Tonight was the first time I could get out this week. School is canceled for illness tomorrow. I was going to hunt tonight and tomorrow morning, but figured if I doubled up, I could sleep in....SO, that's what I did. The .450 has been barking...feed the dawg!

My sister wanted 2 deer. She is happy. The farmer is happy. I am happy.

Good luck to all of you. 20221215_192152.jpg 20221215_180532.jpg 20221215_183259.jpg

I’d give real money if the wind would do what it is forecast to do.

This afternoon was the second sit in a row with a forecast west wind. I got winded by deer NW of me this morning and then I got winded by deer N of me this evening.

I’ll give that stand one more try in the morning and then I’ll try a different spot.

Heading out in about 15 minutes. I only saw 3 little bucks last night. I’m looking for a doe. I feel pretty good about the spot I’m going to this morning.

I’m up. 35 degrees and light rain. 50 minutes until daylight. Good luck out there this morning. Let’s paint it red.

I got set up 45 minutes before first light. 15 minutes later three deer walked by at about 25 yards. Nothing since then, but I’m hopeful.

I only have an out of state address for the owner so I am not sure. No name. I drove around a bit looking for a sign or home but nothing.

Have you tried that county's gis mapper system? Most of them have online mapping to find the owner and or possibly adjacent landowners or relatives that may be able to help contact them...social media, etc may help. If you need any help I have a particular set of skills for this. :)

Do you have OnX app on you phone? It will tell you who the landowner is.
