So I go out tonight and I messed up about 4:45 I was standing up and I see a mature doe coming my way … I can tell right away I want to kill her.. I settle the crosshairs on her heart and pull the trigger… it doesn’t move… I look and see the red circle so I k ow it’s off… I stop her and try and pull the trigger and it won’t move… then a little one comes from a different direction and winds me and she bolts… I hate gloves… the safety, while still showing it was off, needed to be pushed up another 1/4” … so pissed! Was watching a 6pt and 5 doe for the better part of the night. Does hung around 50yds, was hoping to shoot one with the bow. Sun set and they started working off so I shot one with the rifle. Started to pack up and had a lone doe come out of thicket to my left and wokred to my 30 yard gap. Stopped her and let one fly. They both crashed within 50 yds of each other and I drug them down the hill to landowners below and was able to drive down to his right of way and load em up. Still have a buck tag in Pa and Ohio. Gonna make a lot of snack stick and logs this weekend
Did you end up getting that doe? Man I thought yiu were killing a buck tonight, only a matter of time !
No, unfortunately. It was only 20 yard shot, but had to shot thru a basketball size hole in the brush. I think I might have hit a branch and it deflected down. I just knicked her. I watched her for a few minutes and was acting fine and walked off with the rest of the deer. I did get down and there was a little blood, definitely muscle blood. It went 30 yards and just stopped. Thanks. Gonna just say it... There are lots of guys/gals here that have superb land to hunt. Then there are some that don't. It's rare that I can go sit in a stand and not (at least) not have a shot opp at a deer. Myself and many others are spoiled in that regard. Then there are others that have to bust ass to even SEE a deer but keep pressing on. It may seem like Nirvana what little bit I have(and it is) but even I can struggle. Old/big bucks are rare here. Having/seeing/shooting a big buck doesn't happen often here. It's nice waking up,checking the wind direction and within minutes decide what stand to go to ,get dressed and walk and be in it within 10 minutes. It's a great luxury and feel TOTALY BLESSED in that regard! There is not a member I root for more then our own SwampStalker. It's great that this forum has members that congrats/encourages each other. Heartwarming really.
