This was a bust amd a half. Got out of work at 4:28, pulled into Farm and Home at 4:40. Was told I had to wait until 5pm to purchase tags. Apparently they cannot hire an employee or train someone how to use the system between 2 and 5pm. The eve of second shotgun season to boot. 5:06pm amd someone finally shows up. Automatically states that no tags exist, were gone opening day. I can believe it, but not convinced it wasn't a case of just got on the clock, not in the mood. Guy that offered me the opportunity to hunt has a friend that works where they sell OTC tags. May have him double check tomorrow. Otherwise it's a bust, unless I want to try for muzzleloader. Which would require me to buy a muzzleloader and tag if they have them. Um, no!
One of the best things about out of state hunts is meeting and drinking with the locals at the bar. We’ve met numerous people who have offered their land to us just from BS’ing, buying beers, and being “real” about what we are here for. Just have to be open and able to talk to people. The worst you can get is a no but you still get to meet awesome people. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I did this same stuff in Iowa and got some excellent connections with cool people. One person has a ranch in SD and offered it up to us to hunt. Pretty awesome stuff.
No such thing… Eastern coyotes are much more wolf like than Western coyotes and have more wolf lines in their genes but they are just that… Eastern coyotes…. https://www.timesunion.com/hudsonva...coyote-Lets-call-the-whole-thing-16052554.php Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
So true, so true. Small town bars are just SO cool. I've got a notepad of tele# of people I've met (once) at a small town bars BEGGING me to come shoot coyotes. Mn_Nd_Sd_Mt_WY. Such a relief to see the lease/ greed hasn't infiltrated the whole country.
Listen to these coyotes from this marsh area the other night. I put them at maybe 400 to 500 yards. As I was leaving I heard them barking at me on the walk out...felt like they were less than 100 yards. https://www.instagram.com/reel/Clh_xxuD_2_/?igshid=NDk5N2NlZjQ=
I hear that just about every night where I hunt. When dragging a deer out at night, almost every time I'm being followed/watched by at least a couple. I think I told this story before but the only time they freaked me out a little is when I was gutting a buck, and about 15 yards away behind tall grass, they were standing there growling. There was no moon, and it was pitch black. WTF! Other stuff happened that night too. I had another buck walking up to me, bowed up wanting to fight. Wouldn't leave despite me yelling at him. I came close to shooting his ass, but he finally left. Then as I was hanging the buck, I had several bobcats getting closer and closer to me despite me yelling and shining lights in their face. It was the weirdest night of my hunting life, and I was relieved when I finally got in the truck to get the hell out of there
I’m convinced I won’t ever find another town like this. This is my 2nd time here and I’ve got 3 phone numbers and access to close to 1000+ acres. 90% is farmland but also 260 acres of private north in the mountains. The people are what make this though. If you are a good human in this area good things will come. We go to the diner for breakfast and bar for dinner and Every local has asked us how we have been doing each night when we walk in. I think I’ve heard this 5+ times this year. I should learn to hunt them but have no idea where to start. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m heading in shortly, got two doe tags and a buck tag. First morning sit of the year at this prop. Good luck out there!
I’ll be leaving the cabin shortly. After I park I’ve got a little over a mile and a half to go to get to my stand. I’m glad I have the bike. Temps are below freezing this morning and I’m glad to see that. The major movement period (moon underfoot) is 5:56 to 7:56. This could be a really good sit. I hope the bucks do what they did yesterday morning.
