Almost impossible to hunt right now. 40mph winds last 2 days. Can’t get in a tree and our blinds can’t really take it. We’ve scouted and think we know where deer are, just hard to set up and actually hunt.

Back home sitting with a cup.of coffee and a turkey wrap.
Sorry about text ,I need to get daughter to show me how to work this phone. She has the key board set up funky. I'm a one stubby finger typist ,she is a split keyboard two thumbs typist. It's still set up for her.
Any how when I got down I walked the ridge to other side and where the buck got up from his beds. OK WOW! I knew he had a decent rack from the bit I saw but he was wayyyyy bigger than I thought. His bed was huge and kinda deep. I got up in the other stand and caught a flash of white a hundred yards out then swore I was hearing an occasional grunt. I look over on neighbours and on the line in very heavy cover was a buck making a rub. 70 yards out and well in range with line shooting permission. I couldn't, it was just too thick. I couldn't make out his points thick. I grunted but he payed no mind. Then disappeared. I saw nothing after that.

Can’t you just sit against a big tree? (Preferably one that doesn’t have a widow maker above?)

Complete crap show getting in here. If I didn't blow all the deer out on that setup. In about 15 acre green briar thicket. Some deer sign and buck sign. Let see what happens.

Well that didn't take long. Got a doe coming towards me. She's at 45 yards and just standing there for last 5 minutes. Hopefully she comes this way!

She jumped the creek and went the other way. She stopped in a clearing and I ranged her, 50 yards, way to far. Still got 2 1/2 hours to go. Now I'm getting in my head and trying to talk myself into moving 50 yards, ugh!

I did some scouting this morning and found a spot that looks promising, so I’m set up in a spot I’d never seen before today.

The sign is good. The downside is I’m close to I-40 so the constant drone of road noise makes it a “can’t hear ‘em, gotta see ‘em” hunt.

I got out here a little early to find a good place to hide my bike, pick a tree and get set up.

    Let’s see what happens here.

There were 2 does running around when I got here. It'll be fun no matter what.

Does this not look like a spot for a giant to cruise by?

You can’t see it but there are scrapes and rubs within bow range but that’s only preset of the reason I picked this spot.

I’m sitting over a small dry creek. The right is super thick and it transitions into more open woods and there is a pond 300 yards to the left.

Actually in the landowners back yard. There is fresh rut sign all over in here. While driving around we have seen 3 shooters on does… not sure if it’s the 2nd rut or what.

This is also the most clothing I’ve ever worn I think. Ever. Might also be my first time ever hunting deer out of a blind.

Haha. I wish it was that easy. “Big trees” are hard to come by in certain areas of ND.

Just had a really good 8 point at 60 but he didn’t come any closer.
