Rain started at 3:00 am. At 5:45 it slowed down enough for me to get in my hay bale blind. It was a 400 yard walk but I didn’t get soaked. I seen a small 8 at daylight and then 2 spikes traveling together not long after daylight. It’s supposed to rain all day here in Ohio. Good luck out there this morning.

Shooting light for a hour, no deer yet. Did have walk past me in the dark, about 30 minutes before light. Also did hear one blow about 100 yards away in the dark on the walk in.

Wow! I just had 24 turkeys fly down from their roost on the field I’m setup on. There were turkeys flying everywhere.

    Gonna skip this morning.
    Dead calm wind/super crunchy snow.
    This afternoon looks better.

Pouring here this morning, so I slept in. Hoping to get out tonight with a NW wind. Go to a spot I haven't been able to get to often.

Finally in full chase phase here, it blew open yesterday.
Nothing I wanted to shoot but a fun time. Had a one sided 4 point go by chasing two does, then another doe came by with a spike chasing it and a fork-n-horn a ways behind trying to catch up. A while later another doe came by with a decent buck dogging her, I never had a clear shot at him but my BIL was sitting a couple hundred yards over the hill from me and ended up shooting him (rifle). Was a 4x5 that probably tapes out around 122 or so. Helped him get him out.
I’ll be out later today for a while, then will gather up my blind, climber, atv that I leave there for getting deer out, and cameras for the season. Today is the last day I can hunt before it closes at my property.
Next weekend late muzzleloader elk is open and there is a late archery only season I could still try for whitetail if I don’t get one today. Today I’ll be holding the 25/06. Good luck to all that are out today.

They are plentiful down at camp, think due to buckthorn. They are literally tame and land on us all the time. If you bring a handful of seed in your pocket and hold your hand out ,things get crazy!..lol
Problem is ...their flitting around the goldenrod flashing their white feathers will drive you nuts.

Well yesterday I had to walk back half way home to get the phone. Wouldn't do it this morning. UN nerving quiet walk in, got to tree with ground seat pad. Wind wasn't bad but bad enough. Heard walking in dark. Then turkey came through just at light. After that nothing, not even squirrel.
This sit got me thinking on what hasn't been seen other than abundant deer. Red squirrel,as many chippers, Fox, skunk, grouse. Geese and ducks flying over head, Martin. I got to thinking of all the critters that would cruise by as I sat on stand and we seem to be missing a whole lot of critters this year..rabbits rabbits have been MIA as well.

Was out about 10, earily quiet in the woods. Nothing moving. Not what I expected with 10hrs of rain coming. Gonna watch the radar and make a decision about 2 as to whether I will go sit the end of the day under a tree umbrella.

Back on stand in a different blind. Took a 2 hour break and back at it. Thunderstorm just rolled through. I’m hoping they start moving after it passes.

Glad I have a blind to sit in. Snowing sideways with 35-40 mph wind. Had to restake the blind once already.
