Never hunted here and onx was off by 200 yards on the boundary line. So I had to wait til light to set up as it's thick in here. Sounded like a rhino.

My buck had a great hang but now weather then going up so he gets processed today. No hunting because temps going up into 50's Thanksgiving. Don't normally hang with hide on so long but hey up to yesterday cold and winds were just too much for me. Holy Hanna I know why, that was a tough skinning. We had some of him last night with mushrooms, roasted red peppers ,garlic and butter. Man was that good!!!
That bolt missed all meat. Zipped through the ribs then through the lowest part of shoulder blade at leg bone. I don't know how he ran so well or far.
I checked for prints around the garden looked like a cattle yard. They got in and found the Brussels sprout plants stripping every leaf off them. All the deer squash are gone and they found the pumpkins I left there. So I know where they are hiding and where they are coming in for Friday's hunt.

Those days I am like a bull in a China shop and I’m frustrated and sweating bullets are typically the days I have the best luck! Good luck

Those 450 BM’s are thumpers. I built a 350 legend and my buddy a 450 BM in the AR platform and his gun sounds like a bomb going off lol

After jan 1st we are legal for (single shot) straight walls in illinois. I plan on getting a 350 Legend. If we have more than single shot we have to have a blank cover in the magazine receiver. What did you end up building?

I wear ear muffs when shooting deer for that reason!

Couple of deer a half hour before shooting.

    1 mouse.

A nice rafter of hens and poults.

Nice! The 350 legend is an amazing round, it’s got range and knock down power. I built a AR15 with 20” stainless bull barrel, I was shooting the other day and 3” groups at 200yds with it. The upper is from Bear Creek Arsenal and I built the lower with custom parts. You may be better suited with a bolt action if you have to go single shot. Winchester XPR makes a killer 350 legend, alot of company’s do just depends on how much ya want to spend. I have a ML, Slug gun and a Ruger 44 mag for hunting Ohio and the .350 is the goto. You’ll be impressed with the results.

Sitting and waiting on my jeep to get a tire rotation. Entertain me with bloody arrows!
May try to get out this afternoon or this weekend on a buddies farm with the rifle for some doe management with my sons. If that doesn’t work, I will try to get in at least one sit on public with the bow. Going to try to get the Christmas tree purchased and lights on the house this morning after I get done here.

Good luck if you are out!

I have the savage 220. Amazing gun but i do not like shotgun slugs inconsistencies in ballistics. Sometimes they zip right through with horrible performance zero blood trails and minimal damage and sometimes they do well and its like a bomb goes off inside the deer. Very frustrating. This is across the board from lightfield to accutips to partition gold and trophy coppers. Also finding slugs is like finding an honest politician !!!

I have had great luck with the Hornady SST slugs. I’m with ya on inconsistent results tho.

Same for me shocker. I get a dime sized entrance hole and no exit. You just have to watch where the deer go after you shoot them and I’ve found them not far from where I shot. It’s not just that gun either I have Winchester XPR in 6.5 same results just less recoil.
