Congrats VS and everyone else that filled tags. I have been out of service for a few days. Had to come home and take care of a few work things, going back tomorrow with the 6.5 Creedmore! Good luck all! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Decided to hunt by a buck bed I found this summer and a thicket at the back end of the public. 1.5 mile walk. 745am I hear a stick break. See a buck skirting the water from the slough. He is ultra cautious. Takes him about 10min to move 20 yards. He starts to bed down when a squirrel makes a noise. He stands back up. Then it takes him 5min to move 5 more yards. He is looking intently and is keyed up. Its 20 degrees and I have my bow in my hand for 20min. Just as he is about to bed down a doe comes running by toward the thicket. He stands back up and starts slowly walking to cut her off. He didn't want to leave cover. As soon as he leaves cover I try to stop him. He stops but I don't have a shot. He starts after her again. I stop him again at 30 yds and let it rip before he takes off running after her. Heard body cavity pop and he sprints off. I see what looks like blood but high double lung. I then hear what sounds like him crashing about 80 yds away. Wait 1 hr. Find blood only at the arrow area. Nothing else. Slowly ease up into the thicker cover and saw him dead. High double lung. My longest shot since 2005. I hadn't shot a deer over 30 yds since then.
You sure could have killed a doe and a six point from that same tree yesterday afternoon. They came from the west, crossed the valley and walked right by it.
Geez disregard that last post...this phones so dead it has me distracted. ..my new one arrives soon. Actually. Daughters galaxy pro. Her new one arrives soon. Woman at store said she couldn't believe mine still booted up...lol
Walking 10 yds from the water to bed. Double brow tine. This is the bed I found in the summer. I had never hunted there before. Just went right to my mark and set up. Got lucky. I'll take it.
I had no doubt in my military mind that you would get it done. As hard as you hunt and then add in Midwest conditions it was a no brainer.
I'm in a tree now also, I am down to the last 5 days of archery season. Then there is firearms season for bears , thanksgiving, then firearms season for deer.
