A doe fawn has circled the ridge next to me a few times now. Something must have bumped it. Or, is playing with mama. Come this way.

Why do rifle hunters wait until the day before gun season, at deer camp, to sight in? You are just educating the deer.

If I really wanted to wake Adam up I’d wait until sunset and let my 45-70 roar.

(I told them not to shoot this evening.)

An update on my morning hunt.

Had a plan and executed it almost flawlessly.

I say almost because the rain quit before I got there. I was up an hour and 15 before shooting light. I did see a few does who were awfully nervous but no bucks.

Got down at 10 to go put siding on my sister's house. (Long story)

Went by the scrape I mentioned was near my stand. It was freshly worked. I had pulled the cam card on the way out.

He was on the cam 20 minutes before I got to the stand. GRR

Do the deer even know they are suppose to be running around?

One doe so far. Walking around without a care in the world

Yeah it's been a graveyard here and usually chasing like crazy...
    But
Checked cam, last night had a doe getting dogged by a 2.5 at 2am then 3 more 2.5s caught following her path a half hour later, so there are bucks cruising here. Just at 2-3a under a full moon.

One of those 2.5s was a nice 110-120 mainframe 8 with split brows who will get an arrow if he gives me a chance. I can't afford to be picky this year.

As I typed that, I was struck by the thought...if I'm gonna kill a 2.5yo might as well be one with inferior genes. So 6 pointers, you best be careful!
