Another no go this a.m. then weather changed!. We were both up at 2a.m. scrambling to shut Windows due to a heck of a lighten/rain storm coming through. A tad scary one I may add. Now no more due until 2 this afternoon. The alarm was turned off with only 3 hrs of sleep. Thankfully the next 3 days are supposed to be great.
There has been sign of wolves in the past, but the last few years I've seen no sign of them at all nor heard them howling. I don't think it's wolves that's the problem. It is fairly common that the majority of elk don't get vocal until the last two weeks of September in this area. But usually we can find a few willing to play a bit before that. But there's been years where they never do seem to be vocal, hope this year isn't one of those. It's cooling down quite a bit through this week, that will help. Would love to see a bit of rain or at least a decent wind to clear up all the smoke.
This is how our local range is set up. One long shooting line that everyone shoots from and staggered distance targets down both sides from 20 to 60 yards. There is also one set of 70-80-90-100 yard targets, also shot from the same shooting line. Us hicks do not have the fancy green grass and paved walk paths though.
I remember Finny having the most entertaining track job in the history of the "LFTS" quite a few years back!! Let's hope he does it again!
No arrows launched this morning. Passed on a few does. Be out again in a few hours looking for a buck again on different property. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'll be out in a tree on Thursday evening. In NY. I just purchased my out state hunting license. ASMS
If someone doesn't kill a doe by sat afternoon, I may just get in a tree? Scorecard thread needs some traffic.
Horrible day at work today and don't want to be here. All I keep thinking about is my next hunt. Not sure when that will be, maybe tomorrow evening? If I hadn't lost a day of work yesterday (kid sick from school), I would have left work already and be in the woods. Good luck this evening Finny! Good to see you back on the stand.
