It is on its way to almost 80 degrees, wind in my face, middway movement undwrway. Going with a two hour gamble, kill a deer on this pond before 2pm move to evening spot.
I've seen more deer from my classroom window than I did in 10 hours on stand yesterday. 1 doe went by during first hour. Since then, 3 bucks have followed her lead. This is the biggest of the 3. Good news about the buck I shot Monday - land owner saw him near a couple of my treestands this morning- unphased.
Alright guys. I presented this question on my team thread and got a couple responses so far. I am going to Ohio to hunt on my family farm. I will be hunting this Saturday to next Sunday unless I tag out before then. I know this area well and have hunted it for 42 years. Here's the question.
I'd be tempted to pass on does in the begging, UNLESS you are in a location that you can get her out easily.
I'm in a similar boat but shorter time frame, given that I've got an empty freezer and I'm hunting on NR Tag$, unless I've seen a bunch of buck activity but just unable to close the deal for whatever reason; I'm prob going to shoot a doe if one gives me a chip shot.
If me, I'm shooting the first doe that gives me a chip shot. If I know I want one, I'm not waiting for later, Taking first easy shot and do a quick recovery and get back on stand. That's just me. Waiting is a risky game. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Nothing for me. My heart wasn’t in it to sit all day and I knew there was food waiting for me back of the jeep, lol back at it tomorrow day for. Good luck everybody
When I get up there I'll be going over memory cards all evening. All my stands but 1 on the farm are gone. I left my best one. Depending what I'm seeing on the camera I guess can help me make my choice as well. I just really know this area. If I'm seeing mega buck action, which I know of at least 4 studs in the area, I may wait. I do like the idea though of taking out a doe, first thing, then my choice is over. All buck from there on out!
Found this today. Anyone know what it is? Sent from my SM-G990U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Old Boiler. Old homestead out there edit: dang phone. If you were to look around you probably find evidence of an old foundation. Maybe an old sistern or well.
Pretty sure I double-lunged that doe at 12 yards. Arrow is in the ground at 15. Shot looked to be 2” behind the shoulder.
