My standards in Ohio are 4-1/2 or older and/or 140" +. He's definitely way older than 4-1/2.

That's a brute and on old buck also. When the head goes straight to the top of the back and jaw to the brisket with a bow in the back it's at least 5 - 6+ years old. That picture is at least a 6 year old. To me it's not always about the score of the rack when the age of the buck is greater than 5 years old. It's hard to outsmart a buck that old.

Nothing but four does strolling by me tonight. I am going to hunt in the morning but then I need to come home so I can prepare for my Ohio hunt. I'll be leaving Thursday morning for that.

Thats my mentality also. I like the big bodies that look like an angus bull with a 140 rack than a 180# dressed 180” rack. I guess i need to go up to canada lol

Thing is, he may be dead?
Purdy odd for him to be active and not get a single pic in 3 weeks.
I HATE having a buck tag when we get weather that's (predicted).
I just HAVE TO hunt if I still have it.
I aint the young fella I used to be.

Will see how this storm answers out.

I really do envy the way you get to do it. Maybe when my kids are grown ill have a remote cabin i can disappear to one day. Dont want to miss them growing up though. Man your cabin is sweet though.

it is more of I don’t want my buck tag filled in my first day hunting on my trip. That may very well be the best buck I see, but I don’t want to be done buck hunting already. I may regret it but I have at least 8 more days of rut hunting private ground in central Kansas.

I can understand that. You are in a great spot. Good luck. It really isnt all about size anyway. If you arent feeling it then no need to pull the trigger. Cant wait to see what else comes your way

I can understand that totally DMen!

That the main reason i don't like hunting early anymore. I know we can kill good bucks early and have done it but I crave the (rut) phase when I can watch the chaos.
    (Absent so fat this year).

Thanks Shocker. I hope you someday fulfill your dream:rock:
