Some dude on a quad just drove by at 50 yards. It wasn't the property owner or the other kid that hunts out here...
Hah! Had that happen from behind me a few years back, tree hit the ground to my side maybe 10yds away...yeah. Code brown.
Be patient for the next few days, hunters. Full moon and the potential for datass will have them up midday.
Came to full draw on a buck at 955, legal he was but maybe 55-60 inches. Damn my luck. 5 pt 11/12 in spread Didn't shoot
3 days of rain/snow and high winds. Pounding out some work the next few days and hope to get back out this weekend. Real cold after this front moves through. I will be ice fishing in no time!
I would like to think that but it’s the firearms season here so I highly doubt it… my guess is he got bored and decided to go for a walk because he got impatient. The wind is 100% wrong in how he is going about it but that’s ok with me.
30 degrees a 4 degree drops incentives The sun came up. The the sun his warming the blind a,tad Got to tell you I did the same thing to get to blind today. Only way in. No sooner Sat down and the deer were literally walking around the blind and under the Windows. Got some snorts but they hung around for 20 mins then had the big spike? Come in directly down wind turn broad side and went 20 some yards out to make a rub. He may know thermals better than you think. Me my hunting clothes never come in the house unless being washed every other week...mighty cold getting dressed but it helps a lot. My hair also gets blown dry with the bathroom window wide open and the dryer sucking in the cold out side air. THAT works great! Not fun in snowy cold months but my hair smell like out side not the house odours.
So I'm in have late breakfast, then as showering to go vote. I pulled card on way in had 1 spike and 2 buttons under new hang on at 1:30 p.m. walking the trail. When I get home I'm getting the bobbin head decoy ready to take out to the blind. If nothing happens I at least see movement before hitting new area or camp. Then If still running on empty the tree lounge will come out and I'll go in closer to where they have been seen entering that hedge row. I have been able to literally sleep in that. So go in hours before light get set up before any chance of being heard. The crossbow makes this easy compared to extra weight of the compound platform having to be attached. The lounge is great for gun season too. Especially if it's set out in advance leaving climbing the only thing I have to do.
