Well my state land plan didn't go how I wanted. I pull in there is a truck parked where I was going to enter in. It's the same guy I met up here a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure where he is set up so I didn't want to screw him up. I drove down the road a bit and followed the creek in. Lots of tracks crossing it from the other hill. Alot of briars for the deer to munch on. Will see how it turns out. IMG_20221107_155941.jpg

I’m going to camp rat this evening. Earlier I decided to drive Eric to the end of the road and drop him off. We got there, I said good luck and he started to walk away. He took three steps and realized he still had his tennis shoes on. Back to camp we went.

Adam rolled in a little while ago. He decided to test shoot his bow. Evidently one of the screw in weights came loose on the shot and blew the nock out of the arrow. At first we thought something bad had happened.
Greg and Adam rode out together a few minutes ago and should be setting up.

Now I’m kicked back in my camp recliner listening to the breeze blow through pine trees.

I think not...you have deer on the pole..lol
When I said chilling, wasn't joking. Long Johns and 2 pairs of fleece pants under those insulated camo pants. It's cold in these hills , I'm too old to freeze ..lol

All set up. Had to borrow a hat from LC. More like I hoped it would make deer come to me to die, so I "borrowed" it from LC.

    Overlooking a cut over.

    Just heard a grunt. 20221107_151011.jpg

First doe came off the side hill and is feeding somewhere behind me. Hopefully there's more to follow.

Just had a tall 8 sneak up the hedge row along field. Headed for the pines. Grunted him to a stop. Then snort wheezed for his attention. He thought about it for about a minute or two then a gust of wind blew up. He turned and ran back to the gully hoping he is still there thinking about taking my gully trail. 35 yrd shot and I have the cross bow. Sun's in my eyes now so couldn't see his entire exit. No snort or flagging.

    You can mow the
Kinda like Nascar sponsors, do you collect from all of them, if you 'win'?

    Not happy

Just shot an 8 point buck 20 minutes ago.

Low and back - not good guts....maybe liver.

Watched him barely move for 15 minutes he snort wheezed 3 times at a smaller buck. Then he quickly went through my 3 foot wide shooting lane and I shot farther back than hoping. Not good. He's with a doe. Not a good shot.

Watched him for several minutes after the shot. Ran 35 yards, up to doe, and stood there with head up. Just kept following the doe. I'll check arrow a little before dark.

Congratulations SC - heck of a buck.

    Good find LC!
