Ok guys I'm out but what a morning! Probably seen close to 10 different bucks and about 5 does. Only 2 of the bucks I would've shot. One didn't come out of thick cover and the other came by me on a fast trot and wouldn't slow down. I passed a doe at 25yds and a small buck at 15yds. I would still be in there but I'm starving. I probably should have brought something to eat and drink but I had no idea it would be this active this morning. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Afternoon sit is all planned out. So much deer meat in coolers here. Im just relaxing in this beautiful place and taking it in. Plan is the down wind side of a cut over hoping to catch a SE Missouri public land slammer cruising.
High (rising) pressure after a lot of lows and I’m guessing a hot doe will do that! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Oh man. This was just shot last night near Carlyle Lake in Illinois. Idk if ive ever seen brow tines this gnarly before. Could you imagine being a little cedar just sitting there minding your own business and this guy walks up like im gonna rub the $h!t outta you.
Close. I had marked last blood and put a reflector on a tree. Eric was looking for where she was bedded last night and I was trying to find the tree in daylight when I saw her laying almost at the tree I'd marked. Eric found the bed. She had backtracked about 15 yards. She hadn't been dead very long either. The last blood was still totally wet. Even the little pin-prick droplets were still wet. The meat is fine. We even gave it the Ridgerunner3 test. I sliced a piece of backstop off and tossed in on the griddle. It cooked up and smelled perfect.
Thanks for posting the pics Eric. There is the exit wound for those that were asking. Like I said, since I was 25' high and the shot was downhill, it was a low shot. I just had a brain fart and shot it like I would a 3D target. I got lucky on this one. Sometimes it actually is better to be lucky than good. She was quartering to me more than I thought she was, but not by much.
When I gutted her Eric and I looked. There was a slice in the liver and the Slick Trick got some gut. We didn't see any damage to the lungs.
Yeah. When I killed my 2019 buck on October 26th everyone was hounding me for pics even after I posted that I was going to sit a while and soak it in. Sometimes you just want to sit, reflect and enjoy it for a while.
