I was watching 12 does in the winter wheat field behind my house and talking to the sweet old woman who lives by the field. She was complaining that a buck was killing her little pine trees and out he came running right past us! Maybe 30 yards away. Little basket rack 6 looked like

Unzipped the hide at base of brisket, not really a pass through but through the cartilage/fat which is what is seen on the veins and probably felt on the shaft. Much like my shot back in Oct. but mine was even lower and missed most most of the meat.

Possible low hit, I had on the doe I never recovered opening weekend. I never found arrow but I shot low and sliced the belly open and had great blood for a while. After my shot with that deers stomach looked to be hanging out she just stood there for five minutes licking her wound and walked off. Just my 2cents.

Okay, we’ve backed out for the time being. The last pic I posted was the last blood we found. My nephew is trying to help but he’s not a good blood tracker.

I was 25’ up and the doe was right at 20-22 yards away. She was downhill a bit. I ranged her at 25 so I shot for 20. There is only a 1” difference in impact on my arrow from 20-25 and I figured she was actually about 22-23 yards. She was slightly quartering to me - almost broadside.

    The arrow hit about here:

I was aiming higher but I Just botched the shot.

The blood pics I posted look like places where she stood still. Between those spots the blood trail wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great.

Ridgerunner3 will be here a little after 7:00 and then Greg and I will go back and pick up the trail at the last blood I posted a pic of.

    So, what is everyone’s prediction?

If you truly hit her there, she is dead as a hammer…

I think it went through a lot of the hide and fat under her chest, perhaps a bit of muscle but the fat and hide wiped the blood off the arrow. Worried you’re just following muscle blood that will dry up soon.
I didn’t see a thing in the stand today. Down and back home. I was so bored…and apparently in a weird mood because I just don’t make up poems…that I decided to entertain myself by making one up. I hope if gives you luck on the track LC.

Any chance a rib could have altered path? With that placement and angles described, heart is out, maybe liver but really looks like muscle blood. Any chance could have hit a bit more forward/quartered to more for more front leg muscle?
