Correct. When I killed my buck on October 6th I knew I wouldn't be able to shoot another buck until gun season opened on 12 November. Archery season actually closes in Missouri during gun season but yes, I could use bow during gun season but I would have to tag any deer I killed with my one firearms tag. When gun season opens though I'll be going out with my 45-70. I enjoy gun hunting too and I hate bowhunting while wearing orange.
Congratulations on that! Were you in a stand or a blind? If you were in a tree stand that's an accomplishment. I've attempted it quite a few times but I have never been successful. I always get picked off by one of the turkeys.
From my local forecast, just going to have to push through the first half of the week knowing my vacation emds on a cold note.
I just bought two more archery antlerless tags so I'm good to hunt again. I'm planning to wait until tomorrow afternoon though. I may go out in the morning, but only if I go and put my stand on a tree today. I don't like walking in and setting up from scratch in the dark. I know lots of people do it but I don't like it.
Set up from scratch this morning, cussing the entire time. Hate it. Everything works against you. And it was raining.
That's another thing some people do that I won't do: Bow hunt when it's raining. I've often wondered why I don't do it though. Most think it's a bad idea because the rain will wash away the blood trail but I can't see the stupid blood trail to begin with so why even worry about it?
The chit show is officially under way! Nothing like waiting last minute to do stuff. End of September I finally located and got together cable lock and small padlock keys for trail cams. Been looking for them for over a week Put my light gear in the wash for the majority if the week then tore my truck apart looking for the keys, again. No luck. Decide to remove the receiver hitch for the hitch hoist. Well, my dumbass put a padlock through the pin about 4 years ago. Even if I had the key it is so rusted up going through 4 years of weather and salt it would be of no use anyway. Went down to swap out hunting clothes and get heavier gear going for next weekend and there's the keys I've been looking for, in the bottom of the washer. Now I have to go into work and get a pair of bolt cutters. Happens every damn year, yet I fail to learn from it
