I'm heading to elk camp around noon today. Can't wait to get out for an evening hunt, should be able to set up camp and have 3 or 4 hours of daylight left for a hunt. Good luck to all!
Funny you ask, I just looked up active fires in Idaho. Nothing very close as of right now in my area. Still pretty smoky though, we gets lots of smoke that comes into the area from California and Oregon fires. AQI has been between 55 to 140 the last few days depending on the wind. I can't remember the last archery season I hunted that there wasn't a lot of smoke in the air. It's gotten to the point that when I smell smoke in the air during the summer it makes me instantly think of elk hunting.
I'm off work! Going home to shoot bow and pack up. Then heading to hunting lands! Probably won't be til after 3 before I'm setup. Have area picked out, but will make adjustments as need once I get in there. Major key to this spot is the acorns and I have not been in there this summer to find out. If I find a big fresh scrape, I will be setting up on that. I believe I located a community scrape this past winter, so hopefully its still active.
NC opener in the Morning! Best of luck I will be out trying to make it happen! Hope I get some sleep tonight.
Anyone in MD know anything about this buck? Saw it on Facebook and said it was shot today. I know it was opening day but wondering if it was on the shore or not?
I had so many rough seasons years ago that I started to embrace not seeing deer the first few sits of the year. It helped get me mentally ready to keep grinding.
All I know is if he was even a couple feet back further it would look even bigger. Big ol’ 8 frame tho
I'm awake and will be heading out in about 30 minutes. See you guys in the stand! This property I should have some service so I can post. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Rain this morning in my parts, as expected. Not gonna sit the morning. Evening sit looks iffy, but I'll recheck later today.
I'm up in the tree. Sitting between bedding behind me and crop fields about 200 yards in front of me. About 16' up in a 6" tree, one of those crazy setups, but we're I need to be. Good luck guys! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
