Holy it is hot out there! I was right they stopped at 11:30 moved up the hill to the last field. So the tankers are lumbering up our hill still. Took advantage and fixed this mornings stand and the mid swamp stand. That area needed a bit of work it's thick with beech , oak, yellow poplar, witch hazel, and cherry bark...hhhmmm slips my mind. Anyways I needed to snap a bunch of small beech saplings for shooting lanes. . That property is only 400ft wide and is heavy line hunted on both sides all my stands are smack dab in the center going down hill. There are several streams across that 400ft. The ground is thick in a spongy moss that they come into bed and hide in. Best is for gun and cross bow because I have a better chance at zero to short runs.. Didn't see or hear anything there I believe they are down in the gullies and the pine plantations around us staying cool.
I'm sure wanted a different outcome but congrats to his first bow buck and glad he can chase another. Congrats!
The adrenaline that’s pumping through my veins from todays encounters is crazy. I’ve had that buck on camera all year. He’s big, but I didn’t think he was that big. Just a tank. Got me shaking just seeing him for 30 seconds. Didn’t respond to calls either. All of them just cruising for does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think I might go set up for a quick hunt. Probably from the ground downwind of this bedding area and see what happens. Caught a hour or so break in the rain and it doesn't seem to be as bad as the forecast made out. It's killin me sitting here.
Are they all cruising in the same spot/area? If so I think it's time for a move Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I would be sitting there tomorrow for opening day of fun season. They think they are safe at 60 yards but nope!
No. Just cruising the swamp. It’s all tall grass and willows where does bed. That big 8 came out of a different area than the rest. But he’s doing the same. Cruising the edge of doe bedding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m on the edge of the swamp at a pinch/transition that connects 2 bedding areas. That big 8 was cruising the south side the others along this south edge of the swamp (just not close enough for me). They do focus the little group of willows that’s right next to me. Just have to cruise the right side for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm sitting here hoping the rain will let up enough to maybe get out before dark. radar says F YOU!! Looks like a thunder storm will hit in a couple hours.
I get a quick blast of NW wind every once in awhile it's supposed to be SW which it is the majority of the time. Even thought it's mid 60s out in the shade it's a lot cooler and 15mph winds. Hoping for some late movement from the valley into the field. I got 2 newer scrapes in front of me maybe made yesterday.
I've been up since 230. Later then I wanted. Cameras say I have Bucks below me in the food plot at night. No big ones on camera yet. Was very crunchy and hot getting up here.
I’ve been on stand for 30 minutes. Warm and breezy. Hopefully they’ll be on their feet soon. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I climbed up a different stand for the evening, I was getting some weird wind switches. Seems better here so far.
Someone is sighting in there guns down off the power line they got some cannons. Maybe it will push the deer my way.
