“10 hours of heat” my a55. Both are stone cold. Brand new. Should invest in a portable charger soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, we found Greg’s buck, and it wasn’t the spike I saw. It was a little four point that just happened to walk in to the wrong place at the wrong time. We found a few spots of blood and walked the “path of least resistance. About 200 yards in we found the fur everywhere and a bloody drag trail down the ridge. It wasn’t long before we spotted him. I called MDC and the home office said that if Greg doesn’t want the antlers we can leave it lay and he can continue to hunt. They said if he does want the antlers we would have to call the local Warden for this area. I left a voicemail on his phone explaining the situation and asking him to call me. I’d like to see if Greg can get the antlers and still shoot another buck, but I want to make sure everything is done legally.
This wind has got the trees moaning. Going to give it a few more minutes and try again another day. Hopefully Sunday! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Im gonna post in the gear thread too but if anyone uses SpyPoint cans they have twin pacs of the micro’s for 129 with sd cards. I just started using them this year and for the cost they work well. Just ordered couple 2 packs
I have about 15 mins left, been a fun morning. Deer are really on the move here in NW Iowa. Had a 6 chasing does around the corn field for an hour. Then I had what I am pretty sure is the best deer I have on camera cruise by. I've been debating all month if I would shoot him. Figure he's around 120. Bigger bucks all died from bluetongue last 2 years with our drought. My entire goal of this property is to be able to harvest some truly nice deer, but after not having a chance at a decent buck with a bow the last 2 years, I'm pretty tempted. But I've killed a lot of 100-140 inch deer. He came by and skirted the edge of my stand, gave me one opportunity at about 40 and I hesitated and he kept moving. Can't decide if I'm good with the decision or not. Took a pic as he hesitated by the fence row as he wondered back in closer. Trail cam pic also from a few days back. Heading to a different spot on the property where it may be a little more cool and shaded. There's a small swampy area that might be holding a little water. Going to try to finish the day out down there. Got my jacket strapped to my climber and going in. Supposed to get near 65 today.
Think they would like to get a salvage tag and not use an archery tag. Can do the same thing here in IL, you even need to get salvage tags for dead heads. Can face a steep fine for having a head untagged in your possession even if it was dead from EHD/CW or some other means other than you killing it.
Thhey have upped the wind gusts for tonight and tomorrow morning to 55mph, then easing back into the 40's until late afternoon. Don't even think I will attempt an afternoon sit.
yeah, in light of all the wind in the entire Great Lakes and MW areas I can hunt, and 30 sustained with up to 60MPH gusts here at home, I have re-negotiated with the wife and will be home this weekend since it seems almost everytime I am gone for a severe weather event tragedy strikes the house...Got the greenlight for Mon-Friday.
