I don't know. Never scouted it for deer as it was never huntable until they started special hunts.

That said, I have been mushroom hunting in the spring in that area for 15 years. I know oaks are there because I've had a few acorn caps fool me

Deer are there because there is a heavy trail year after year that I walked. Several times I had been crouched down just scanning the ground for morels and deer walked right up on me, 20 yds or less.

I can't scout it because not allowed to prescout, but I know this area from spring mushrooms and going in blind it's my best play.

Aside from what I wrote above, it's an area I am very familiar with. Would be the top of a hill with a heavily traveled trail west to east about 10yds down. It's the only area in the place that I could walk in blindfolded to and no one else hunting that morning. The way the city/DNR has set the property up you park just to the east and walk to where you want to go, so will be hit with foot traffic by 2 others soon after.

    Somewhere around in here

Actually blue dot should be a bit to the northeast.

DNR does not make it easy for a hunter when they want everyone to kill at least 3 deer.

Learned today over 4, 15 day seasons they accepted 59 of nearly 800 applications. Not all for this one property.

    Welcome to IL ineptitude.

I can't hunt that actual funnel thoughthat's where they are traveling to though, trying to catch them in route browsing and munching acorns.

Eff it, I was more worried about giving up a morel spot than anything.

Here's how it lays out. Double yellow is the creek so I can hunt anywhere on the south bank of it regardless of proximity to roads. Parking is far northeast and have to walk by foot wherever you hunt. Have questions in regarding exceptions like bicycle, watercraft or neighboring private land with permission.

I have to stay within the red lined area when in the act if hunting regardless.

    Be somewhere in here

A week from today is opening day eve!!!! I won't be able to go out until the day after on the 16th. I need some woods therapy more than ever. TBH, that is going to be my main goal this season, therapy and soul cleansing in the woods.
